we DO have plenty of choices for Mexican food...some outstanding taquerias among them...alas, not many good barbecue places...

we live in a Chinese food desert here in Corona, CA...one average place within driving distance...there's a 99 Ranch Asian supermarket nearby and I go there for stuff from their hot food deli...

couple good places in Riverside, but many more in the opposite direction, towards L.A., Cerritos and San Gabriel Valley

I’ll eat Panda Express but usually in airports only.

I was spoiled rotten with Asian food in general in the SF Bay Area and even in Sugar Land Texas. I had 99 Ranch markets in both places that had every ingredient I needed. I had two awesome Sichuan restaurants within a mile in Texas. The Asian grocery stores here are slightly bigger than a 7-11.

Now I’m on the hunt for Asian restaurants. I found decent Thai but Chinese is all New York take-out so far.

I have found decent Mexican but California Mexican food is a bit unique and special.

Great analogy! And it’s totally spot-on!

Honolulu used to have a plethora of Cantonese-style restaurants; unfortunately, slowly but surely they’ve either closed or been replaced by Hong Kong or Mandarin-style places. Nothing wrong with either one but sometimes when I just want some good ol’ comfort food, it’s not like I can drive two blocks and get some.

Some decent Mexican places but I’mma sure nothin’ like SoCal.

East Texas has plentiful “Tex-Mex” food aka Americanized Mexican food, but it’s mostly terrific. Asian cuisine not so much.

*99 Ranch, I miss that place(es). I have to go to Dallas for good Asian food or groceries

Agreed on Panda Express. Been there a few times and it's always loaded with salt and kinda slimy/heavy coatings. We have plenty of good Asian eat in and take out. Also many decent non-chain Mexican places in my area.

Chipotle is the best Mexican fast food in my area of the fish bowl.
They give huge bowls and burritos.

Panda express near me is pretty good. Clean and well managed at least.

Yeah we started our 3rd tournament. My team is up 1 game after week 1. Each tournament lasts 4 weeks. Still 1 cigar buy-in per player.

Maybe because I grew up there and lived in Mexico for a few years, but absolutely yes!

I just hope Mexican food is one part of California that doesn't get ruined.

Chipotle built a store here in North Augusta, South Carolina. It never has many customers and we have never had anything from them.

Wait, whut? Where do you live?

I haven't had Mexican food in a while. We've got a few places around, but I am afraid to try any of them. They're likely not gonna be what I am accustomed to after living in SoCal for 31 years.

Pittsburgh area. The chipotle I frequent is always slammed. If you go at peak times u wait 20 mins in a line that stretches across the whole restaurant so they must be doing something right there.

Orrrr... hear me out... that area has not experienced authentic Mexican food.

Some of the hole in the wall places in San Diego area are just ridiculously good. Rolled tacos... tortas... carne asada burritos... oh, man.

I look for regional specialties on the menu. Chile colorado, chile verde, barbacoa, Cochinita pibil, carnitas, mole, Birria. I’ll trust this Mexican restaurant more if I see some of these items.

We used to have a few “Mission Burritos” in Houston. Loved that place.

We have other good a la carte Mexican restaurants but they are nowhere near as good as the mexican restaurants I've visited in SoCal.
Santa Monica had the best IMO.

Here is South Carolina/Georgia we have a lot of "Mexican" restaurants that have Central America dishes and the food favored in Eastern Mexico, like tamales wrapped in banana leaves. A few places serve frozen entrees made in Atlanta, passable, but not great. They have to sell what people will buy so there is that.

The key is going there on a working day and if a lot of hard working brown guys eat there it's a good place to try.

OTOH, the Central American crew that did our roof all wanted Colonel Sanders chicken two days in a row. d'oh!

Funny thing, we hadn't had the Colonel's chicken in many years, it was quite good. Not something I'd like often, but it wasn't bad.

I like Chipotle. Personally, my tastebuds would not put them in the Burger King category nor would my wallet. I haven’t eaten at Chipotle in several years though…or Burger King for that matter. Definitely never had a good experience with Panda Express.

As soon as I read this, I got it. You would be surprised how many passengers on flights from Central America, specifically Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvadore are carrying fried chicken with them from a place called Pollo Campero. Sometimes the smell of fried chicken takes over baggage areas and lingers on the plane long after the passengers are gone.

I was speaking with them and someone mentioned they were not Mexicans. I replied that I figured they were not Mexicans, they didn't use enough cuss words to be Mexican. That really cracked them up, while laughing they pointed out the one guy from Mexico.

Man, used to hit that place up in the 80s-90s...AndyTV mentioned it here and I was like "WHA????"...when I was traveling all over CFL I used to LOVE when I was over there. HAD to stop in and get lunch and a few for the road.

I can't recommend a place higher than them for a burrito! Their hot sauces and chutneys...AWESOME!

MACS...when I hit up a concert in St.Augustine Amphitheater I found this place...lot closer for you...

Mojo's Tacos 551 Anastasia Blvd #4572, St. Augustine, FL 32080

GREAT seafood tacos! Not quite as great as Da Kine Diego's...but...still a great place to eat!

Random thought and a practice I use sometimes. Sick of junk mail in your mail box? All of those credit card offers, insurance offers and stuff... Save them. Many come with prepaid bulk mail envelopes.

Save up all the junk mail and those prepaid envelopes. Then cram as much junk mail into the prepaid envelope that can fit. Junk mail, pieces of cardboard, extra metal washers and what ever fits in there to add weight then mail it back in the prepaid mail envelope. Let the junk mail companies soak up the extra costs for junk mail delivery being returned to them.

Sad to say, my junk mail has decreased. I almost like to get junk mail since postal workers need to get paid to deliver junk mail.

That’s what I’ve been doing for many years. I started sending all of that crap back to the electric company with my monthly payment back before the internet came along. Ah…the good ol’ days

I pay all of my bills online. Kinda feel bad that doing so takes work away from the postal workers. I can't remember the last time I bought stamps and I don't even know what they cost. I still do paper copies mailed to me with the utilities and stuff but pay them online.

I put the internet and the gas bill in my son's name (he turned 18 adult last year) but II pay the bills. It's meant to help him build a credit rating in his name. He pays his own car insurance so that is another source. I'll do the same next year when my daughter turns 18. Maybe put the electric bill in her name it they will allow it.

Eventually they will need to take out a loan for a car or a house or something and it's beneficial to have a good credit rating/track record.
