Lots of herf talk, wish I could make it but hopefully I'll be on my way to NM again around that time for a house hunting trip. No job offer yet, but it's still in the works.
I'd like to dope slap my PhD advisor... I had asked him on January 15th to send Los Alamos a letter of recommendation, he wrote back on the 17th that he would... I had the interview on February 14th and found out that he hadn't sent the letter yet. Once I got back home I asked him again, he said he'd send it but lost the contact info as to who to email it to so I sent that to him again. He wrote me back saying that he'd send it in a day or so because he was out of town... ok, fine... a few days go by and he asked me for the contact info again... WTF?!? I sent it to him. Then this past Monday I wrote to my (hopefully) future boss to ask if he got the letter yet and he didn't, so I wrote my previous advisor to ask him to send it... again he lost the contact info, so I sent it again. FInally I got an email on Thursday from Los Alamos saying that they got the letter and now they can proceed with sending my application materials to their HR department since they actually do the hiring. Holy **** on a biscuit Batman, talk about a cluster ****. In defense of my old advisor, he's nearly 70 years old, works 12+ hours a day still, gets over 200 emails a day, and is in the U.S. less than he is in some foreign country (his passport must look like a NYC phone book)... so he's a busy guy... but still, I'd like to dope slap him at times, LOL!
So... with any luck I should know in a week or so about whether I got the job or not. Man, I've heard this "week or so" thing for a month now... gotta love the speed at which government entities operate... not!
Smoke 'em if ya got 'em.
