I've been alternating between Zacappa & Sailor Jerry lately...Anyone have any suggestions similar in profile to those two?

Flor de Cana 18 is fantastic if you can get it. It's like drinking brown sugar candy.
Zaya is a very good one, priced right as well.

I had this in Miami once and fell in LOVE... well I say once but I mean for a week straight;-p It's called cachaça rum. It's a sugar cane rum and I had it in a drink called a Caipirinha. it's Brazil's National drink or something like that. It is AMAZING rum and the drink itself is also out of this world. If you ever get the chance to try it I beg you to do so. I fell in love with it but it's not easy to get up north when you're out at dinner or at a bar etc. Only way to get it is to find a specialty liquor store or order it over the net. The drink is just straight rum with raw crushed sugar and lime at the bottom of the glass and will sneak up on you fast and knock you on your ass!

I've also had rum direct from Columbia. Bottle had a wicker cover over it to include the cap and came with a shot glass. I've searched all over for another bottle, but it appears as though it is a local product only.

I know a brand of cachaca from Brazil comes in wicker. I don't know of any Colombian rums like that. If your talking Colombian Ron medellin extra anejo is the only way to go. Havent seen it state side though.

Zaya is definitely good, but it a much different rum that Zacapa IMO (two of the top shelf rums in my liquor cabinet). Zaya is a much fuller bodied rum, dark and heavy. Zacapa is a bit softer with a lighter flavor profile. Definitely work acquiring just to compare.

No it was definitely Brazilllan. It was amazing. I was thinking the the sweetness from the rum would pair well with a lot of different cigars. Just another way to go instead of a spiced rum.

Beer Pyrat XO reserve and Zacappa are all you need, though I hear HC is good as well.

I enjoy the Zacappa as well but am finding myself drinking more Zaya than anything lately.

Zacapa (I assume 23 Solera, around $40 here) is not spiced and should not be mentioned with Sailor Jerry.

For sipping neat or maybe one ice cube, it is way up the list. Despite other opinions, I find Zaya similar and $10 less around here.

For a little bit drier, I love Diplomatico and Pampero, both Venezuelan, both around $30 here. Some others mentioned here above good too, but stuff like 10 cane are "white" and totally different profile than you asked about, as is cachaca, the Brazilian version of rum which really is not suited for drinking straight...needs a lot of sugar, water, and mulled limes. Leblon is one of the more palatable cachacas.

Check out www.rndrumreviews for some excellent info.

Used to drink a lot of rum, and my absolute favorite brand was always Plantation Rum... The 5 yr barbados is crap IMO, but if you can get your hands on the Guyana, Trinidad, or Panama, they're each very unique and enjoyable...
