Sazerac Straight Rye...hard to believe this is 90 proof, very smooth, very good, zero burn. Might be the best $20 whiskey on the shelf.
My first bottle, but this will be a staple in my rotation (like I needed more).

sorry, even though it would be the best $20 whiskey on the shelf, it was $29. Hope I didn't create a shortage due to my huge following. But it is still surprisingly free of the spicey rye burn some others have...which is sometimes what I seek. This is a fine alternative.

I've heard good things. Seen it a few places but always been buying too much other stuff to consider so far.

amazing. hadn't thought of this label in years, but two days ago I was looking at a "nip" of this that I have had for over 30 years, unopened. Now I hear that after a twenty year absence they are reintroducing two new levels of bourbon...but lukewarm reviews factoring in price.

What did you think Nick?

I think its proofed down too much. But we killed half the bottle real quick smoking around a bonfire last night. at 39.99 (avg retail around here) probably wont get again. I've seen it on sale for 30. May buy again at 30. It lacked the normal bourbon sweetness i think.

edit: I am looking forward to trying the IW Harper 15 yr though. I think that will be more in line with the orphan barrels (which despite negative reviews all over the interwebs, I've very much enjoyed all that I've had so far). Its not the same bourbon as the NAS version.

also just a random whiskey related comment buttttt... ezras had Willet FE 7yr Rye yesterday posted for 24 minutes before it sold out. I had it in my shoping cart and was trying to find a relatives address to ship to (can't ship to indiana yay) and by the time i had aunt's address punched in it was sold out. 90ish bucks seemed like good price. bummer

The IW Harper 15 yo is an entirely different mash bill from my research and well worth the chase IMHO.

Glen fiddich 12, got the bottle for Christmas. Actually enjoying it, was staring down my half empty bottles of my usual suspects, decided to hit this bottle. Yes, I said half empty, because that's the direction they are going... But I'm optimistic, because I'll just buy more, lol.
