My son will be 3 in a month. Any ideas on a box, sampler, or 5-pack that will age well for a mild-med end result for what may or may not be my own personal noob

^I don't know where I am. I'm waiting for the post lady to come trenching up my steps. Kids are home with me today. This may get ugly. Apparently, noob me didn't do research on aging prior to filling up 2 desktops and 4 cigar jars to start this hobby. Apparently my love for everything I read about Padrons didn't come with apparent notification that they are at their peak when released?? I have an anniversary, a couple wine events, and a trip or two to the casinos but I don't want to smoke them $30 gars because I had a long day!

Don't go there. Not yet....... Start building a college fund.
I have a couple 2013 cigars that "I" will smoke when my little one graduates.

That's why you buy a few $25 dollar cigars. If you want to try anything beforehand PM me and I may have one or two for you. As far as aging goes I would listen to Pro.....Cubans seem the way to go. Some smokes age well in just a few years (viaje IMHO) and a lot of the releases (like pardon you mentioned) already have age on them and are ready to burn.

I have 2 2012 Camacho Liberties that I am holding onto for when my daughter graduates and one for her wedding day. I've got 17 years before the first one, so I hope they are better with age.

Yeah, college fund is certainly most important. This huge knucklehead boy of mine will more than likely end up with scholarship. My daughter? We all praise our own but I swear to God she remembers being born. Applause

Yeah, I've seen his runnings on here for mass orders. As for trying anything, I'll probably take you up on that offer. But for now I did lots of reading up on the ones I bought so I have at least a month before I try one of everything I pulled the trigger on. Mix that with all the ones being sent my way already, I'm looking at summer time before I can open my eyes back up to something new

Whatever you choose make sure it will hold-up to that length of aging. Have heard most peak between 7-10yrs, and may begin to loose their oils/strength past that. Wait till the kid is 8 to pick the cigars. But hoard a stack if cash now, you'll need it.

Just a thought, I know your talking about cigars to age for special occasions but certain red wines age well for decades. If that holds any interest for you your local liquor store would be quite helpful with appropriate recommendations.

Upmann Sir Winston
Upmann Connie 1
Party Lusi
Hoyo Epicure No. 2
El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme
Quai D'orsay Coronas or Imperiales
Saint Luis Ray Regios or Serie A

Some good ones already out there. I'd add Cohiba Sig. VI's and the Lanceros. Both great smokes with age on them. Party 8-9-8's are also pretty good.

HUP Sir Winston's are well know for having legs and may be my first choice.
CoRo's
Cohiba Espy's
Cohiba Piramides Extra
Cohiba Behike 54
RASS
PSD4
Partagas 898 varnished
Monte #2

Take your pick......

That's quite a list of potentials that will take some time check. Can't go wrong with picking a couple and seeing which actually last. I'll set it one my calendar to come back in 15 years and so the final winner

Yes, many great cigars listed. I would put my money on The Sir Winstons.

A friend of the family, who is a wine snob, has purchased a case of fine wine each year on his daughter's birthday starting with the year she was born. All the cases sit in his basement wine cellar waiting for his daughter's 21st birthday. She is 17 now. Its starting to look like a nice investment. A bit more of a sure thing than aging a box of cigars.

I bought a box of CyB lonsdale club in regards to my son being born this past August. Plan on smoking one on each of his birthdays and hopefully around 16-18 he'll smoke with me. Box of 21 so I'm covered. Hope they age well too but who knows.

Agreed, I'm doing the same thing (kind of) with some Vegas Robaina Unicos for my son. By then the smoking age might be 50 years old, so who knows with this current legislation.

That's probably the best advice.

VR Unicos rock, but I've never had one with more than a couple years rest. Can only imagine they'll improve over time.

I couldn't keep a box of VI's that long. Not enough will power......and I am used to aging cigars...a lot of cigars. Maybe if I had 4 or 5 boxes of them, I could get a box to last that long without touching it.

I'm ahead of ya on the wine. My wife and I are lucky enough to both enjoy wine. So, we join, cancel, shuffle memberships. We tour wine routes and hit up festivals all year and season; respectively. There's no way we make it through our wines. But we have yet to find our permanent residence. So, cellar/wine rack bonanza + humidor nut house is still optional. Oh, what the future may hold

All very good. I have my research cut out for me. I don't even know what a lot of these are. I'm very new to cigars and it seems like everytime I have like half covered, it's more like half the first shelf. This is mayhem for the mind. Perfect for people like me who lose interest quickly. Apparently a lot of people feel the same way
