My wife is 2 weeks away from giving birth, and yesterday she decided she was ready to stop working and start maternity...

we woke up to great weather and our 15 month old boy was happy as happy could be so the wife says, why don't you go enjoy a cigar... don't have to tell me twice!

Abrignac sent me a crazy good selection of cigars a couple of weeks ago, and one was an opus x.... never had one before but I had high hopes for it since every other cigar anthony sent me was dead on in terms of what I enjoy in a cigar...

I have to say, I definitely get why these are liked... fantastic cigar, down to the nub... I can't really say what my top 5 cigars would be, but this would have to be in it... maybe top 3? maybe the best? I don't know, but pretty close...

only problem is now it's only 9:30 in the morning and that cigar put me on my butt... so much for doing anything today...

thanks again anthony!

About ten years ago, when I first got into cigars, and had only been smoking for about two months, I asked my buddy, who had been smoking for over thirty years, if he was going to the gallows and could only smoke one last cigar, which would it be.
Without hesitation, he said . . . An Opus X.
So I went out and bought two for myself.
Needless to say, it kicked my azz and turned me green. I almost threw up.
I chalked it up to my inexperienced palate and left it at that.
About a year later, I figured it was time to check out the second one I bought, figuring my palate had matured somewhat and also the cigar now had a year's humi time on it. Same thing . . . it turned me green once again.
Have not been back to the Opus since.
BUT I have a Lost City that I got from surfish a few years ago at mjtoal's CigarBQ, that has been resting.
MAYBE it's time to revisit Opusville.

jes

It is my favorite cigar, but I limit myself to only smoking it only when I have a special occassion.

Never smoked one, but I have one sitting in a humidior with over a year;s nap on it waiting for the right time. I doubt if it will turn me green as those little italian cigars that were supposed to do that never worked either.

IIRC that was a Belicoso xXx, aka Power Ranger. It had been sleeping about 3 years. Glad you enjoyed it Joel.

I love those little Power Rangers,Petit Lancero's and the #4's and 5's.But the one that absolutely blows me away is the #77.......The Shark.I have one left with 3-4 years age on it........it makes me salivate as I look at it resting peacefully in my 150 ct glass top.Think I'll pull out a Power Ranger...................

I've smoked several. The Opus X is a very good cigar. However, if I'm going to spend that much for a smoke, I'll get an Anejo or a DC Max.

WHat's that?

The Google didn't know either. Found an old Cbid review from 10 years ago but that was it. http://cigarbid.com/Forum/c/posts/33966/DC-Max-review--kinda-

I've had three: one was excellent, a Perfecxion X, which was among the best cigars I've ever smoked. The other two were super belicosos: one was very good and the other was just average because it was rolled too tight. I had to keep poking it to get enough smoke to get some flavor.
