The inevitable happened. I knew I liked cigars but what I was smoking was too much (3-5 a day). Well my palate died out and the only difference I could get was good smoke or ok smoke. Cut back to 1-2 a day and took off smoking yesterday. Today I'm smoking a Nirvana. Wowzers. Great dayHerfing

Yeah, I got like that when I was in Afghanistan. 3-4 a day was the norm.

I was wondering about that . I smoke 2 a day and my tongue feels funny. Guess I should lay off a couple of days.

Yeah, you can blow out your palate permanently if you over do it. I am still sticking to 1-2 with a random day off.

I generally smoke to relax so if the situation or circumstances don't allow for it, I don't smoke. The days off help me keep my palate fresh. I'll also do a baking soda rinse if I'm smoking back-to-back 'gars.

I'm going through a similar phase, Puffy. Since I retired at the beginning of the year, I had more time to smoke, and soon was up to 3 per day, sometimes four. A coupla months ago, it seemed like all cigars started to taste the same and kinda flat, so I cut back. Now it's usually one a day, occasionally two. I'll skip a day here and there if I've got stuff to do with the grandson.

^^^Gonna have to try the baking soda rinse to clean my palate. How much powder/water, Palama?

Delta, I usually use a tablespoon or so. And then add enough water to fully dilute it. If I put too much baking soda then I just add more water after doing a couple of rinses. Pretty simple and works for me.

I'm retired and spend most of my day outside. Much of the day smoke is essential to keep the bugs away so I smoke 3-5 sticks a day, so my palate is also unable to pick up much in the way of flavor. This winter I'm going to cut back or stop smoking and hope the palate recovers so I can smoke some good cigars. I should be out of dog rockets by then if I keep away from buying.any more cigars. So far I'm at about 80 days without a purchase.

I got a few weeks without internet purchases under my belt. Saw this Las Calaveras topic started up by BS yesterday so I ran to my local and snagged a couple robbie and a toro. CC recovery and palate recovery time lol.
