I just finished my second stick and both of them burned very HOT and kept trying to go out on me. I had to toss the second one with almost 2" left. It also burned very unevenly. I do like the taste, but that's all.

Send a PM to JadeRose.
He is the President of the cigarbid's "Keep Our Cigars Kool" club (KOCK for short).
As the leader, and expert in KOCK, Jade will show you just how to puff a hefty 7x60, without getting it too hot, making it last just so much longer.

Chinese tobacco rolled by counterfeit cuban immigrants... what'd you expect... but as was said, tell jaderose... for whatever reason he always wants to be kept in the loop on this stuff...

It's 85° with oppressive humidy, everything burns hot or wants to go out.

He's from Ohio, he doesn't know how to care for cigars. Probably smoking them to fast.

5 Vegas Cask Strength used to be pretty good, but I haven't bought any for a few years. Burning hot and going out sounds like the cigars were too wet. Try dry boxing one for a few days to see if it makes a difference.

Saw this in a newsletter article from a similar cbid site......

"What interests me though, is that a few years ago, the 70/70 rule seemed to be set in stone (the 70/70 rule is that humidors should be kept at 70 degrees and 70% humidity.) Now enthusiasts realize that the 70/70 rule isn’t the golden rule. What it comes down to is each person’s preference. You like a drier, hotter smoke? Keep your humidity in the mid-sixties. You want a slower-burning, cooler smoke? Stay around 70% or slightly higher."

Not sure what is correct now but I keep RH in the mid sixties and smoke slow. That works for me. I like the Cask Strength, have some from 1/11 and some from 11/12. Need to see if they changed over the 2 years.

Thanks for all of the helpful replies, I didn't know so many people cared, what wonderful camaraderie!! My 3rd stick was the worst, it burned up the side under the wrapper so I called Cbid to let them know and they are going to send me some replacements. I like the advice about letting them air out a for awhile and will give that a try.

That could be uneven humidity or poor construction.

Could also be the fact it's a 5vegas, what'd you expect it to smoke like a Gurkha?

I've only ever smoked one 5 Vegas blend and it's a good one. Been tempted to try others but haven't pulled the trigger on them. I already have a favorite house cigar and it's made by Ashton.

I don't mind the AAA, it's a Fernandez stick so I enjoy it.

Ashton premium house selection. Natural and sungrown available in Churchill and robusto sizes.

I'm about out time to make the 130 mile one way trip to get some more.

Still have to try one of those. I wonder if they are better with higher mileage.

don't git to upset. I just smoked a 6"x52 Toro yesterday and is was smooth and perfect. The 20 I won for $46 have been aging naked at 65% in a cedar humidor for about 5 months so maybe yours need to dry out a bit. Great smoke at $2.30per.
