Hey yall, John here. Checking in from Long Beach CA. Wanted to take a minute to introduce myself to the board.
I've been visiting the forum on and off for a couple years but never got around to posting anything until now. That brings us to the "poker qualifier" comment in the subject line. I decided I wanted to play in the Cbid poker tourney, I PM'd Craig about getting in on the action, he thought it would be a good idea for me to have a little interaction on the board before jumping in to the poker game. (which I totally understand). So anyway there you have it.
This next part may sound like an internet dating site intro... I like good cigars, fine whiskey, cheap wine, good beer, motorcycles, bicycles and I'm a Packer fan! And long walks on the beach.
Thanks yall.... Also I took The Browns in my office pool so I'm looking like a F-ing genius right now.

Welcome to cbid. Start increasing your available storage now. Be sure to ask cacman about the key to setting kitty litter at the perfect rh. Got any drunken overbid stories to tell?

If you are married start coming up with excuses to tell her as to why all these packages of cigars keep showing up at your house.

First thing you'll want to do is send a PM to trish... possibly several of them... she doesn't read any pm's older than 5 minutes so you have to just keep sending until you hear back...

then send a pm to jaderose... he's local chapter president of Asshump... he'll explain what that means when you pm him...

There, fixed it for you.

And OP, do you like waffles, pancakes, or are you a cheese-eating surrender monkey that likes crepes?

Gosh, ain't that the truth. She opened the desk the other night. 5-packs up the ying-yang. Jars of blue beads to keep them moist. OH, look, it is Friday...I have another box waiting for me when I get home!!!

^ gary, you might wanna get a Tupperware container of a cooler to store your cigars, something that is air-tight. If the ambient humidity in your area is less than 50-60%, your cigars will dry out soon if you leave them in the desk, even with the beads nearby.

Delta,
I set up my Ice Chest Humidor yesterday. Thanks for the tip. While I was transferring cigar from the desk to the ice chest, I set my hygrometer on top of the desk. The humidity in the house is 30%. I have to work on that now! I am still working on stabilizing the humidity in the chest. I got it up to 64% right now. A few more points and then I am going to tuck it away in a dark corner to let then all age for a few months.

64% is golden, mine has recently moved from 62% to 65% but that is generally where I like to keep it.

ThumpUp Beer

You're at the sweet spot now. No need to adjust the RH in your house if the coolerdor stays within a couple of points, unless you or your family have humidity related health issues.
