So the fluctuations in temperature are wreaking havoc on my humidors. I ordered extra humidifiers to put in them, but was wondering what advice people had to minimize/negate this?

(This is my first winter with cigar storage)

Get a cooler. They're insulated. Temp changes are gradual. Get beads. They're awesome.

Failure to yield to this info takes away any right to bitch in the future.

You're welcome.

WTF is Black Ice?

I know what it is here in NEPA but it has nothing to do with cigars.

The search function really needs an overhaul.

It seems like this topic is discussed as nauseam here.

Beads. Heartfelf, joecool or whatever, and even excquisicat. Misted with distilled water.

Perhaps one day we will get at sticky section.

Your beads won't get stinky if you search function the mint beads

And yes, from all I get the juice is hype and more detrimental can be done by it than good. Distilled water works perfect why the need for change. Smaller humidification needs Boveda all the way

The idea of someone hand rolling these sticks only for them to be surrounded by feline bathroom bedding seems disgraceful to me. Beads in pantyhose is much classier.

There's so much hype out there and noobs that will buy it. I bought a humicare stick when I first started. Now it's relegated to my rarely used travel tupperdor.

I used distilled water and foam sticks, heard they were a possible mold factory but all it takes is care to keep them clean and they work ok. Scored a box of 65 rh Boveda packs on here for cheap and have used them ever since. My humidors stay pretty consistent @ 65-67 rh.

Edit* what kind of humidors? Have you checked the seal on them?

One is basically a novelty that's engraved my lady got me, the other is a cheap yukon humidor I got on here for like 13 bucks. Using foam in one and the xikar gel in the other. I now have water pillows in both to keep the rh up until the cooler is ready.

Do the seal check on the lids.

Open them up and drop the lid from about 1-/2"-3/4" above being closed. The lid should stop then settle closed gently and you should hear a whoosh of air as it does this. If it just drops shut without slowing you need to wipe down the lid with a new sponge dampened w distilled water. This will help expand the wood and make for a better seal.

Do the same around the inside if it's a glass top humidor. This'll help seal up the glass top.

I find that keeping my humidor indoors minimizes the temperature fluctuations.

Had that crap mold up on me - trashed it all - cleaned the containers and filled them with HF beads - beads are the only way to go.....
