The Tattoo Caballero has quickly won a spot in my regular rotation.

Thoughts on this vitola or the newer ones?

Looked this one up just out of curiosity. It turns out that you have to buy a box of 50, which is $250. That's $5.00 a cigar, which isn't bad at all. It only comes in a Rothschild size (5 x 50) I believe and almost every online store is out of them. That sent positive and negative thoughts in my mind. On the negative size, when dog rockets are being sold, you usually have to buy them in quantities of 40 or 50. This enables a retailer to get them out of his humidor quicker and make room for better cigars. That also means that the poor sucker who has been conned into buying them has a choice. Either gag to death on the 50 cigars or use them for landfill. The fact that so many outlets are out of them brings to mind the possibility that they are 1)really good and retailers can't keep them in stock 2) they are a "limited" edition that will disappear after after the current quantity is sold or 3) they are so bad or the retailer can sell so few of them that they are not willing to stock them. It also appears to me that they are MAP cigars because every retailer has the same price. And, while I may be wrong about the only size being a Rothschild, this is not my favorite size cigar. If I am wrong on any of this, I would appreciate some feedback.

I can name 5-10 50 count boxes I love and can't recall 5-10 50 count boxes of dog rockets. Then again I stay away from the $1 smokes. They can be had for under $250 heck if your lucky under $200 you just have to do some shopping other then google. There are other sizes the caballero was released first and 2 other sizes followed a couple months later. I like this cigar but prefer the Iroths over them.

I didn't do a search here, but I seem to remember somebody picking them up on CBID in the past couple of months at $ 150 or under for a box of 50.

I've only bought 2 handmades in boxes of 50 and I believe they are all gone from my stash now(Fonseca and Punch). They may have had a few survivors that lasted a year or more here.

Following that logic, I would guess that cabinets of 105 would be a total waste of $?

I did a little checking and that auction box went for $ 166 (and Qmpash even calculated the savings in the topic about it). They also have 5 packs available on CI and I think I saw a 5'er on CBID in the past month or so. And they do come in 4 or 5 varieties.

There's 4 different sizes to the Tattoo line:
Caballeros (5 x 50) has been on store shelves since early May
Universo (6 x 50)
Bonito torpedo (6 1/8 x 52)
Adivino (5 1/2 x 58)

Together they spell "Cuba" which is the name of Pete's dog

Each vitola comes in a box with unique artwork that draws from some of Johnson’s own tattoos.

Thanx for letting me know about the different varieties/sizes. I think the CBID you quoted was a classic example of overbidding, which has been beaten to death on these pages. Putting it somewhat differently; why place a bid of $166, when they are selling for $150? I am assuming, of course, that the bid was on a 5 x 50.

RASS = Ramon Allones Specially Selected

A number of CC's are sold in 50ct cabs. Many people prefer the 50ct cabs over the 25ct or 10ct boxes because of the lower price, and for aging. It does not mean they are "dog rockets" just because they are in a 50ct cab. Believe the Illusione Rothchildes are also 50ct cabs. Your assumptions in post #4 are so far off it's laughable, and proven by simply not knowing what RASS means.

H.Upmann Magnum 46 & 50, Hoyo de Monterrey Double Coronas & Epicures, Juan Lopez Seleccion No.2, Partagas Lusitanias & Shorts, Por Larranaga Petit Coronas are just a few that are currently available in 50ct cabs.
