Just to show how different tastes can be, of that list, the only one I found palatable was the Fuente 858 Candela. The Illusione HL Candela lasted less than 2 inches before I pitched the vile (to me) thing.

The one's I've smoked have been VERY mild, hard to see getting a "vile" taste but that's why cigar tastes are always "IMO".

Candela isn't something that I would or do smoke regularly just a good change of pace to me.

Ok, so vile might be a bit of an exaggeration. It was certainly not a pleasant experience.

Kind of like that time you touched me behind the bleachers.

Illusione also makes the 88 in a candela.

I enjoy just about any on the list every once in a while, but to me the Illusione 88 and 888 are the best (didn't care for the HL so much). More $$$ though.

FWIW, I've smoked a few candela's. One was from a small boutique place out of Florida. Can't recall the name. One was an Illusione, but not the HL. Can't remember the others. For the most part I found them leaning towards the sweet side. All in all they were a nice change of pace. I'd smoke them again, just not on a regular basis.

Way back Candella's used to be marketed as AMS (American Market Selection) and Candella wrappers were the most common wrappers to be found in the U.S. The wrapper leaf is flue cured to maintain the green color rather than fermented, the flavor is showcased by the filler leaf.
Tend to be mild, go to a reputable manufacturer and there are good Candella wrapped cigars to be had. Avoid any off brand bundles etc. and you should be good.

Here's my candela tray.

That one HL was already messed up when shipped, apparently, because I also received those two ~888~ , and I didn't order them. Nice compensation.

Here's an interesting read:

http://www.cigaraficionado.com/webfeatures/show/id/Its-Not-Easy-Being-Green_8220

". . . Green cigars are latter-day oddities, but they once were the preferred smokes of Americans, so popular in the United States that cigars with candela wrappers became known as American Market Selection. (Natural cigars, the ones that make up the vast majority of today's cigar market, were dubbed English Market Selection.) From about 1958 to the early 1970s, Americans smoked billions of cigars, and nearly all of them were as green as your front lawn after a May rain. The popular tint was not a function of the use of underage leaf, however. It resulted from a unique process by which the wrapper tobacco was being cured. . . . "

I think I smoked one of those once upon a time---turned me off on green.
