They do need lots of rest. You know the kind where you bury them so deep in your Humi, you hope to never find them again. And when you do find them, you realize you should have bought more cigars. . . fog fog

As I remember, they didn't look or smell that bad for a madurro. But the one's I smoked tasted like ash the whole time. No matter how slow I tried to smoke, it burned super hot and tasted like ash.

Mine kinda tasted like cardboard, with a few notes of unidentified fecal matter and dirt. It was bad, I was hoping it would get better, but it never did. I chucked it at about the half way point, couldn't endure it any more.

The 1st rule of giving an opinion of a cigar is you must smoke at least two to make sure your first impressions were correct.

That is the worst when all you taste is ash, makes it like a cigarette flavor. I have smoked one of these a long time ago and don't remember what my opinion was of it. Did smoke a PAN 64 last night though and it was fantastic.

Ok, I'll retract my opinion so I don't have to endure another one.

I was at a Herf in Boston a number of years ago when a so-called BOTL who used to frquent this forum handed out a bunch of unbanded Nicas and tried to pass them off as Padrons. He claimed to "know everyone in the business" and was "tight with Pete and Pepin." He also claimed to have an interest in a well -known local cigar shop that closed soon after, so maybe there was some truth in that!

Didn't care for these either, which was disappointing. I was looking for a rich, chocolatey, nighttime smoke and bought into the "candy bar" description. Actually it was more like burnt toast. Not a fan. Now, the Fallen Angels, those are pretty good.

I don't know how I missed this thread. Contrary to most of the posters, I like this brand. It is inexpensive and has a really good taste with chocolate predominating. It's a natural tobacco taste (non-infused.) The wrapper is much too thin however and, as a result, can disintegrate, particularly the tip, if not smoked carefully. Definitely NOT a Padron-Killer.

Asian guy? What the heck was his screen name. He actually helped me get a ton of boxes really cheap. But I heard from others they didn't care for him.

I smoked 2 of the 5 cigar nica libre samplers last summer. I'm thought I jotted down a few notes about them in one of my notebooks but cant find it.

I remember a really good and rich chocolate taste with plenty of smoke output.

I remember minor burn issues and minor wrapper issues...not a cigar I would want to smoke in the wind or while otherwise occupied....but a cigar smoked on the front porch with a lighter handy.

I remember comparing it to a couple of other similarly priced cigars including the ITSF maduro and the el mejor espresso. The nica libre came out on top.

Overall I thought it was pretty good. Perhaps I should buy some more to see if my tastes have changed.
