I went int my local cigar store and saw a Rocky Patel 1990 (6 x 60) and decided, "What the hell." I haven't bought one in a long time but I remembered that I liked this one the best; even more than the Decade. What a POS. The cap began dissolving almost immediately and the wrapper soon followed suit. Got about 1/3 the way before I had to heave it as a lost cause. Never again. Cursing

Still have a few older ones from several years back somewhere, but yeah I don't seek out the new ones any longer

I bought two Rocky Patel cigars at a shpo when I got serious into cigars in 2013. One was a 2003 Cameroon churchill, smoked it when it was very cold outside but was less than impressed with it. The other I still have, it's a vintage 1992 toro. Bought a royale Churchill to try but sent it out on the TZ pif trade.

I might buy another royale just to see what the rating was all about.

We went over this with you a month or so ago. Rocky suks, don't buy any. None.

I hope that clears it up once and for all.

Well Q, it seems you are not suffering from dry mouth, but they don't yet have medications for wet mouth. In the meantime you could smoke a Gurk Viper to dry up your mouth before smoking a good cigar. I think the latest blend of the Vioer is made by VS as they are mostly a pretty bad mouth drying smoke, with an occasional error where they make a pretty good one. As far as RP goes, I once thought he made a decent cigar when I only smoked a few of them. Then I tried the r-4 and cargo which were pretty bad- and I think we had that discussion before.

The major gripe against Hansiotta is construction and it seems that Rocky has the same disease. The 1990 was a pretty good, somewhat pricey blend a few years back, but was worth the extra bux. I can't believe that a cigar which goes for about $7.00 a pop can't have a good cap. The R4 was intolerable but the Cargo wasn't a bad yar gar. Of course, someone like you who uses Fuentes to light up his Cohiba Behike's would not consider it so. Sarcasm

It's not news if it's not posted by 8trackdisco. Obviously.

I haven't smoked my last one yet. Had a seven year old OWR maddie last week that was very good. Pretty sure there's a few Decades around here that are 2009 or earlier. I fully expect them to be as good or better than I recall.

I still have OWR's and Decades from 09 or so. The RP Vintage 1990 was one of my first favorites. Got some of the 6x60 when they were first released and had issues with the wrappers on every one. Probably the most delicate wrapper I have encountered. I found other cigars I liked better soon after.

I don't buy RP's anymore, but still enjoy the Decades and OWR's I have on hand.

Decades rock.

Maybe a vintage in something less than a 60 ring jawbreaker would have a better cap?

I picked up a handful a couple of months ago from my B&M when RP came through. I really enjoyed the Royale and will buy those again (if I can ever find them for a decent price). The Edge in maduro was good and I would buy again. Private Cellar average, Fusion average with minor construction issues, but the Sun Grown... ugh. Don't even think I finished that one. Then again, I'm still fairly new to the whole cigar thing, so what do I know :)

I smoked my last RP years ago. Dude used to make some of my favorite cigars; ones that I would smoke very regularly. I used to smoke the hell out of all the Indian Tabac line. Now they're all garbage. I got 2 back to back bad boxes of the RP Connecticut, a bad box of Indian Tabac Super Fuerte, a bad box of Indian Tabac maduros, and a couple of Decades that tasted like air. He will never get another penny of my money. Neither will CAO.

Tried an Indian Tabac on closeout sale for first time recently......no wonder they are not going to make them anymore. Better choices for same price.

The vintage 1992 was a favorite of mine when they had the dark red wrapper. When they changed to the black wrapper they went to ****.... I still have a couple of the original red wrapper 1992 torpedos (my fav size in those) and they are just as good as ever, but they won't last long..... Other than that, seems like everything else new I've tried, I didn't like or burnt like sticks tied together with a wrapper....
