Let this be a warning to all you kitty litter devotees... the long arm of the law might be out to get you!

Have the deputies in Houston never heard of a field test kit?

Narco drug test kits are like... $15 each. They're going to owe that dude some money for unlawful detainment, false imprisonment, and I imagine if he has a good lawyer, mental anguish and all that. WOW! This is inept on a whole new level.

a bigger concern may be if he was pulled over for fogged windows...that would mean the KL didn't work and many cigars will suffer.

They did use a test kit, twice, with false positives for meth. Haley Hoar? Is that a real name? Knew a guy named Royal Knott...

It was just inconceivable to me that the test kits would register kitty litter as meth...

That word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

IIRC the kits are purchased by the authorities from The Lowest Bidder. As long as the kits test positive for Meth when they are testing Meth, the kit might pass. The kit standards need to be looked at first. Then the kit manufacturer. Can't blame the officers as they are doing their job. There should be a procedure in place for a 24-48 hour review to confirm the field findings. Just like you are required to have an MRO for any failed or appealed drug urinalysis tests. A decent lawyer will have a field day with this case

This was all just a ruse. Ha, Ha, Ha... they didn't look past the Meth to find the 1/2 pound of smack in the steering wheel.

Yep. That happens at the border an awful lot... they send one car through with a little bit, so the car with a lot can slide through while they're ripping the other car apart.

The same thing happened to a guy who got pulled over and cop saw meth on the floor board. Driver explained it was the glaze from his krispy Kreme doughnut.
The cop field tested it and it showed positive for Meth. Driver was arrested, booked and jailed.
Later lab results showed it was in fact glaze from a doughnut.
You would have thought If there is one things cops should recognize straight away; anything related to a doughnut.
