Are there any cigar tubes/holders/carrying cases out there that change size for different cigar sizes?

I just got a nice leather(ish) one for Christmas from an excellent vendor!

So stoked.

ha...which ones? I have seen the leather sleeves that the top doesn't push down all the way if the cigar is longer, but wouldn't that damage the cigar if the top got pushed down at all? Curious what all is out there. I have an interesting design idea. Not sure how I would put it into action though.

Some cheap Chinese one... no idea on the brand... it was free.

I have yet to use it, still prefer my good ol' herfador in most situations.

I probably own a dozen different travel options for carrying cigars. But, most often, I find myself taking the clear poly reclosable containers...about .02 mm....often with a Herfing printed on one side

Got mine yesterday. Always enjoy waiting to see what the yearly Christmas gift will be. Very nice of him to do this each year. The holder has a chemical smell inside and needs to be opened and aired prior to use.

I'm thinking about a 1-3 finger holder that extends and has no chance of smashing cigars. Also if there is anything out there that can change ring sizes to match the cigar you put in it. I think my idea is good, but like I said...would have no clue how to put it into action or if there is already something out there like what I am thinking. I don't want to give out my idea though, don't want any DB's stealing it...bahaha

You already did give out your idea...

Telescoping cigar holder that don't smash cigars... I can think of about 50 ways to do it... sign an NDA and give me $10k, I'll send you a napkin with a schematic on it.

I used to have a nice 3 finger leather with no spacers between... accommodated different widths well. Never had a problem with long ones being crushed. Have you ever tried to destroy a cigar that direction? Pretty tough...worse that can happen is cap damage....but never happened. If you were worried cut a piece or two of cedar for cigars longer than case.

I would be more worried about the foot getting messed up by smashing it down. Not saying it for sure would, just a thought.

Ever see what one of those bad boys can expand to when held out the window of a moving car?

I have a nice 3 finger for everyday use, but when I need something more durable, I have an old army first aid kit that has a waterproof seal that I put some foam from a pelican case. It has enough pressure it holds the sticks but not crush them. The case is also water proof and crush proof. Add a Boveda pack and I can carry 5 or 6 into any environment. Also, it was free. Not exactly expandable, but the tension from the foam makes it work for any size cigar without it banging around

I do have a 15 capacity herf-a-dor but that isn't easy to carry around all the time. I lent my "friend" my 5 ct an haven't gotten it back in over a year.

I have several, including ones very similar to these two ... these are the ones I use most often, both with quite satisfactory results ...

As for 'smashing' the foot of the cigar in the leather case, I preclude that problem by putting the cigar into the case with the foot upward ... end of any possible problem in that regard ...

I have a single Xicar one and a 2 cigar leather on with Diesel on it. Both work in the protection part. Cigar won't dry out too fast.

I have two plastic tubes that come apart and then screw down to whatever size the cigar length is. They will hold up to 7" length and 60 RG. They stay in my golf bag.

Edit: 52 RG according to manf

These are probably 12-15 years old and work perfectly but don't think they are made anymore.

Called Tubador

I just looked at mine and although the label is scratched after many years of service:

The name is Tubidor instead of Tubador. The black plastic ones are only about $2.95 and looks like they are still available.

TUBIDOR expands & contracts in a twisting motion, locks in a firm position to hold cigars of all lengths, from Robustos to Churchills with a ring gauge up to 52.

TUBIDOR benefits from a patented “twist-pack” design expanding & contracting in a twisting motion, from a minimum of 4 ½”/ 120mm up to 8 ½” 210mm

TUBIDOR is available in clear ( opaque) and black.

I use three different sizes of tubes similar to these tubidor's, in fact the round one construction looks so close.

Got them from a local pen store, they are from pens being returned from service center.

The round will handle a 52 and the two squares 48 and 44 as short as 41/2 up to 8.

Always would have one in my briefcase when I was traveling.
