Ok, 300 ish posts and no mention at all of Flor de Cano. So I'll do it. Well made cigar, burns straight, very mellow but flavorful, a little bit of maple syrup sweetness, but not too much. Maybe not a great cigar, but a decent one, and excellent for the pittance they generally cost here.

The Nestor Reserves are ok if you AGE them. This stick is a good example of one that is much better if left to rest. There's another thread about that and I'd make this cigar Exhibit A in defense of aging. 1st one I had a couple of days OTT burned horribly, was quite bitter, next one smoked 6 months later, much better, burned fine, despite the extreme box press. I'm gonna leave the balance of the fiver in the humi for another 6 months before I touch another one.

5 Vegas Series A are good too.

Since some of you mentioned non-cheapo maddies, here's mine, LGC Serie R #5, smoked one a day after I got my 10 pac from Joe Cigar for $39.99 and it was one of the finer smokes I've had in a while. For $4 it was on a par with the really nice Cuban Hoyo de Monterrey short churchill I had while in the Czech Republic on business a couple of months ago.

I haven't had a Mayorga Maduro in quite a while. I ordered a box from another site back in December. They were really, really fresh of the boat, I think, since I ordered them the day they got off backorder. They were stinky, too! They smelled like a fresh can of Copenhagen - yuck! I let them sit for seven months and finally fired one up on the 4th. What a wonderful smoke! Tons of creamy smoke, full of coffee flavor and a hint of dark chocolate. Definitely worth it.

funny you mention the mayorga. I smoked these many moons ago. recently thought about smoking one, and got one in a box pass. Been sitting on it a bit, but it might be time to fire it up.

It is definitely worth it to light it up. The only disappointment you'll have is that you don't have any more!

FGM, thanks for the bump brother. I do have to say, I don't necessarily agree with the Lempira being outstanding. I could've just had an off one.

Don Jose Maduro

It is made by the Torano family, bundled cigar. Super bright orange band, you can't miss it at your B&M.

Slow-aged maduro is really pretty good too. Spicy. Cu-avana maduro is under the radar.

Another thumbs-up for the Flor de Cano. I got a bundle of the petit coronas about a year ago. The first OTT was awful. Second one was about two weeks later - still bad. Tried another about a month later - bad. Left them alone till recently. It is now a very enjoyable, if not stellar, little smoke. Not too complex but a tasty little gem and now I'm wishing I bought more at the tiny price I paid.

RP Liga 'C' X-Outs. Olde World Reserve 2nds for under $2.50 per stick is tough to beat.

I've abandoned most of the cheapo's that I smoked early on, but two (very) cheap Maddies that I still really enjoy:

Aristoff Box-Press (need dry boxing, but when they hit the right RH, they can be great)

Tierra del Sol - The nats blow, but the maduro always satisfies. My morning drive smoke 2-4 times a week.
