Have been smoking for awhile now and mostly have been smoking NC. I have had half dozen or so CC and they seemed hit or miss. I had some that where just meh and one or two others that blew my mind. I really enjoyed the creamy nutty flavor that I seemed to only get from the CC that I actually enjoyed. I think my problem is that I get one here and one there and never try more than one of the same kind. So, any pointers on some lines that are your "go to". I really enjoyed a Montecristo and a Bolivar but cannot remember which ones they where (if I ever knew).

It seems to me that the Partagas PSD4 is a favorite CC among the B/SOTL (myself included) here at the CBid forums.

As a matter of fact, yesterday, when I was suspended from work for three days for a "policy infraction", I came home and went right to the PSD4 to help me ease my mental stress .

Haven't smoked many CC's but the RASS always hit just right ( of the 3-4 I've smoked over the years)

Oh and welcome back brother....good to see some familiar names return!!

I have always been a stickler for where I get them. My rule of thumb is that you really can't go wrong with any of the LCdHs around the world. Canada and England can be expensive. Always order from a trusted source or get them from someone who knows where they were purchased and how they were stored. Not all CC's require extensive aging but it never hurts in +90% of CC's. I always thought that the Montecristo #4's smoked pretty good after about 1 months rest after delivery. Monte #2 can take a while to really come into their own (>1 year). PSD4 and Party Shorts are a staple and have never let me down. I'm also a big fan of most of the RyJ line. They can take longer to come into their own as well. My final advise is to buy and smoke as many as you can. Easier said than done but it is possible. Best of luck and enjoy. It's just cigars.

Very good info here! I may try and get in a group buy next time so I don't have to worry about the purchasing and may find a good "in" as where to a trusted business. In time I think I will invest in some of the PSD4's and shorts so I can have something to smoke now and buy a few Monte so I can have something resting in the humi for later gratification. I think the Monte I had was a "edmundo" or something of the sort. A very creamy cigar, seemed like one I could smoke all day long and never burn out my taste buds.

Thanks as always Herfing

A few of my go-to's: H. Upmann Magnum 46, H. Upmann Petit Coronas, Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2, Punch Petit Coronas, Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchills, Monty #4, and Cuaba Divinos. My experience is that any of the cc's get better with rest. Also, I think buying a box from a reputable dealer, rather than a couple here and there from several sources, gives you a better experience. Good luck brother!

Nobody is talking about Vegas Robaina? This is better than the Monti's, Cohiba's, Bolivar's, and yes even the PSD4's I have enjoyed!

We all have different palettes.

Some that I enjoy and a number of others seem to like.

Montecristo #4

Partagas Shorts

Bolivar Petite Corona.

Among my standard go-to cigars.

There are some others that are nicer, but these are a great place for you to start.

Monte #2 is a personal favorite of mine. I agree they age very nicely. I have one left in the humi from '09 that keeps staring at me. I think it is trying to provoke me into smoking it.

Guess I'll put in serious input because you are quite slanderous via text messaging. Some of my favorites at the moment are: regular production: Bolivar Belicosos FInos, H. Upmann Half Corona, PSP2, Partagas 898, Ramon Allones Allones Extra'11 (may be in the minority here), Vegas Robaina Unicos; non-regular production: H. Upmann Mag 48, RA Celestios Finos, SCdlH Oficios.

It's all basically preference so I would say try as many as possible, the hard part is that age changes them all a decent amount. What you don't like fresh might be good in a year and in 4 may be outstanding. Just try and buy multiples at a time and try them with like a month age, 6 mo., year, etc. Box would be ideal, because if they turn out to be really good you have plenty left. However, money and storage come into play in a big way at that point.

In my opinion the Party 898 smoke well young and age really well, same for the H. Upmann Half Corona. Those are two good starters one decently long smoke and one quickish smoke.

We can always do a trade or something!

Edit: Great avatar pic btw
