I tried and apparently it wasn't the couch, which was going to become my new place if I "keep running my mouth".

I let her win this round but next time I'm going to put my foot down!

Certain kitty litter can be used to regulate humidity. Honest.

But, it's a product that is designed to absorb odor, so some feel that it should stay out of the humidor.

My condolences to your bank accounts. It only took me two weeks to piss off the wife and a lot of explaining when the she saw my total expenditure for the month of December. Luckily for me my humidor fits in the doghouse with me.Herfing

That won't last long, you're going to need a bigger dog house pretty soon so better start building it now LOL
Bigger cause once the disease has got you you'll be looking for ways to increase capacity for your D.O.C.

Beads are a good investment.
Kitty litter will start a sh*t storm with some fuggers in particular.
It's all good. As long as your cigars are in good condition, what works for ya works for ya whatever it is.

I purchased a Zederkoff digital hygromeyer (silver square, one button for changing C/F) from CBid. I followed the prescribed method for calibration and after 28 hours found it reads 73% RH.
Zederkoff hygrometers are not adjustable. The Zederkoff brand (trademark) is owned by Cigars International, so it's an in-house brand sold here and on the CI-owned sites.

Having said that, I have two of them and they are within a percent or two of being spot-on. The same can't be said for the temperature readout which is way off.

Well mine seem to be spot on for humidity and so close to the actual temps so as not to be in question. Do you like gladiator movies ?

Of course. Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?

Watch the prison rhetoric. Too much talk of prison wallets on here lately.

Some use the proper tool for the job, while others look for the cheapest way to get the job done.
After making a serious investment and you're happy with using the cheapest way to protect it, go for it.
Phffft!

I've got the thonginator saved as my wall paper. It makes me feel better about myself.

I've been camping with a bunch of sausage jockeys. I was the one who left the most quarters.

I sent Jaderose a PM. That was 6 days ago and still no response.

Is the best you guys got?

I saw that some Noob had sent me a PM. I only have one question........DID YOU ASK RAM?

No, I did not. Someone (I won't mention any names but his initials are crgcpro) told me to reach out directly without any regard of the importance and necessity to ask RAM prior to making any other comments, statements, or otherwise.

I believe this total lack of disregard for the strict protocol adherence set forth by the veterans of this establishment henceforth known as the Halls of Flame and Leaf should be met with swift and harsh justice.

RAM, what do you think?

So what? I think most everyone here has done this.

Or do like I did get drunk and buy fn LP9s and T52s, now that'll piss the wife off.

Here's another golden rule that I'd never seen discussed but it should be in the noob FAQ.

"Don't ever open your humidors when the wife is looking over your shoulder and sees just how many cigars you have"

You will hear her say "wow you have a lot of cigars!!!"

Which equates to "you have too many cigars."

Funny thing is I've already measured the closet to see if a cooler will fit in there!!!!

My wife has seen the humidors. I have 2 I keep in the open and they are glass topped. Not an issue. It was the secretary. Top folds down. Seals well enough to keep it at 65%. The humidors are more long term. The secretary is my what I am going to smoke now stash. She opened it a few weeks ago to get something useless like a pen. Do you know how many cigars a secretary can hold?

If you live in the drier regions of Texas these may be just what you're looking for.

I prefer my RH 58~63%.In the dry winter months these have certainly worked best for me.Desolbones uses them down in the Houston area where the humidity soars in the summer time so I guess they work both ways.

Yeah, I got one of them fancy ones that is totally portable. I'm certainly not leaving it in the house with a woman who has lost her mind. Clearly she doesn't understand me. Besides, the dog doesn't complain about the cigar smoke and long poker games.BigGrin
