I don't know... I bit on these awhile back, psyched about getting one of my favorite smokes for so cheap...they just don't taste like they used to for me. I know these are supposed to be the original blend but....maybe they don't age well ...that doesn't seem right...big disappointment for me. I've still got a few left, gave up on them for awhile. I USED TO love these.

Not sure about the figs, or the high noon place, but I scored lots of the monarcas at that other place (no more there) in the summer of 2013, and they have been just fantastic.......sooooo glad I grabbed them! (thanks DP!!!!........RIP)

they also have bricks of 20...monarca for $60, toro for $65. I am not fond of the larger 54 rg of the fig

After Davidoff bought the brand they left the blend intact prior to their complete move to their new and bold blunder, I found a source that has a supply of those.
I have a half box of the Eiroa owned Camacho Monarcas in the dark natural wrapper, smoked one of the oldies, yes they do age excellently. I smoked one of the Davidoff ones pre "New and Bold" release to compare and despite the wrapper being a lighter corojo the overall result was spot on with a slight flavor difference from the wrapper.

I popped into a local B&M yesterday and spotted an old original blend box buried deep in one of the stand-up humis that, once liberated, proved to contain about 10 Select lonsdales and one Corojo toro. Natch- I grabbed the Corojo. This is one of the originals, from the looks of it. Nice brittle yellowing cello, looks like my old friend to me. I'm pretty sure it won't be still in my humidor by Monday...can't wait...

Never did care for this brand because (for me) it was much too strong.

I've had a few boxes buried for a couple years now. Don't plan on smoking any for a few more years. They get better everyday.

I just bought a box of the ORIGINALS from 2001 in the pyramid box for $100. They are no longer strong very soft in flavor (think cc's) and an interesting sweetness I haven't tasted before. I read that these cigars contained up to 10% cuban tobacco? Thought that was weird.

I recall some (certain years) releases of the Camacho Liberty allegedly had some pre-embargo Cuban tobacco, and there was also another release that wasn't under the Liberty line that they claimed had some pre-embargo Cuban tobacco in it, don't remember if that claim was ever made for the Corojos though. Personally, I wouldn't get hung up on it, it doesn't make the cigar any better or worse, it's just a great marketing claim of questionable provenance.

^ yup and this was rumor never confirmed (though true or not I believe it was a marketing ploy by the Eroias)

Liberties and Pre-Embargo.

Yeah, the whole thing seemed like a big pile of conjecture and rumors. Too many unsubstantiated conflicting wild claims from too many people, mostly all claiming exclusivity of something that was never actually proven to be what it supposedly was. If it even was at all.

Camachos need rest. I found this out too. Seems the old label camachos need atleast a years rest minimum. I bought a fiver of Havana monarcas smoked four within the first year then just found the last one a few months ago. The first four were meh the last one made me sad I smoked the other four so early.
