Bought a fiver out of curiosity from the Mothership. I was pleasantly surprised. A really good smoke by Drew that isn't overpriced. Supposedly, it has several varieties that are "made" to be paired with certain beers for maximum enjoyment. Probably just overhype to push this. Nevertheless, keeping in mind that everone's tastes differ, I found this quite a nice cigar. The head clipped off evenly and cleanly. There was a steady burn with a firm ash and no touchup required. The taste was a mild pepper, oak and nuts with a hint of leather. There was also a "smoky" background tatse that reminded me of Latakia. Herfing

Did you get one of each, or five of one? Which one? What did you pair it with, the corresponding drink for the cigar?

I believe the one I bought was for Stout. I didn't "pair" it because I rarely drink. I bought a fiver of the Smoking Monk for the Stout. I have to try the others to see if they are truly "different," which would be expected if they are indeed blended for different beers; which I sincerely doubt.

I agree that DE is very gimmicky, particularly with their Acid line. LG is way over-priced and Papa Fritas, even more so, considering what you are paying for. But I have to give credit where it's due--this is one fine stick with a fairly reasonable price. Herfing

I tried a 5er of the Monk made for an IPA. It was mild to medium, a little earthier/woodier and stronger than a Perdomo 10th Anny Champagne. Decent smoke but I've had a variety of cigars while drinking IPA's, and this one didn't strike me as the best ever with an IPA.

I also have a 5er of the Monk made for a Tripel Belgium that I've yet to try.

The people who've tried the beer cigars haven't had beer with them. Hmm.

Finally finished my fiver of the Monk. As my palette became accustomed to the stick I detected what tasted faintly like espresso. One of the five had minor construction issues and one had to be touched up a bit on the burn. Gonna get more of these and let them age a bit.

I just bought a pack of the Porters, looking forward to trying one with a Founders Porter over the weekend.

Was gifted an Imperial Stout by a guy at my local.
Worst cigar I've smoked in a long time. Decent construction, horrible taste,
I think they're infused.
I heard Smoking Monk is the brainchild of Swisher Sweets.
Nice job DE!

Grade= F-

Excuse me while I puke.

Okay thanks,

Good Night.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and every cigar smoker has different tastes. Having said that, I don't see how you could possibly say they are infused. And yes, they get better with age; something that you NEVER find in an infused cigar. Try smoking them when you're not drunk. Frying pan

I've never been a LP/DE guy, but I keep wanting to try a Belgium triple with a dragonmeade final absolution. Today may be the day, I can always regret it later.
