Does anyone have an opinion on the Camacho Negro? It looks good, but I don't know that I want to buy a box of anything I have not tried before.

Thanks,
Colin

Very good. Whistle compares them to a PAM.

I'm not saying that, but definitely worth the coin. The box is humidor quality and very cool I hear.

Are you looking at an email deal?

First one I tried I liked enough to buy a box. By the end of the box I was getting tired of them. Good taste but my preferences have changed towards very full-bodied cigars. I have one left that has over a year on it. Was actually thinking of firing it up last night but decided to go with a Camacho corojo.

Lou:

I am glad it wasn't you I took out. I got in at the last moment for a box of robustos.

Those Dutch Auctions are a little different: No max bid and penny increments.

If you contact each other via email instead of on different forums you will find less people sniping you and the bid amounts will be less. Less competition means less (lower)bid. JMO

I just got an email offer for a box of these at $49, $54, $59 depending on size. Is that a deal?

I cannot remember the exact price I paid with the Dutch Auction, but I know it was less that $2.00 a stick for a box of 25 robustos.

I will assume the $49.00 quote is for the robustos. Not a bad price if you like them. I have only smoked one, but my initial impression was nice flavor, yet quite strong. However, I usually like to smoke a few before giving them the thumbs up or down.

Recently got around to smoking that one that was aging.
Incredible what some age can do to this. I burnt my fingers nubbing it.

that internet deal is well worth it. If i wasnt trying to slim down my stash i would definitely bite on this one.

Those prices are right in the ballpark of the dutch auction last month. The way they're making it sound, these may be on there way out.

So it could be now or never. I may pick up another box myself since I think they will age well.

My resistance is waning. I'm having a realllly hard time not pulling the trigger on these, if not for the box alone....

meh, upon further review of the online reviews I think I'll pass. There are many more Camachos I have yet to try that get much better response, albeit at a much heftier price. *sigh*

Compared to PAM? NO way. I find the Camacho Negro to be quite harsh, with a heavy gristle flavor and charcoal aroma. PAM is smooth and mellow.

No, I have not tried these. Thanks for the offer, Kpacedo, but I think I'll pass. If I like them too much, I may end up buying some, and I'm trying to cut back on my purchases. :)

Either grissle or grizzly, I never tasted that in mine. Nice complexity with sweet dry charcoal notes and smoky chocolate interplaying throughout. Smoked too fast, and it can get hot on you. I think aging definately helps to smooth them even more, but I enjoyed them off the truck.

Of course, I have no vested interest for or against as some reviewers might.

With age Steve these do favor a PAM.Oh yeah you said you don't care for PAM's either.Fuggen dilbert!!!

Mind explaining what a "PAM" is to those of us that don't "live" on this board?

Padron’s Anniversary Maduro or "PAN" Padron’s Anniversary Natural.

smoking my second one from a box purchased about 3 months ago and this has considerably improved with age. still could use more time to meld with the coffee undertones coming and going, but i can see this smoke getting very nice in 6 more months or so. havent had a PAM so cannot speak to that, but for the 2.50/stick you can get these on special for, this is a very good stick.

These may not be as smooth as PAMs but at the sale price they are a great every-day smoke. I was on the road this week and had one in my hotel room while watching the NCAA tourney. Since I usually don't smoke indoors this was a real treat.

I detected no harshness at all.

When I saw the deal elsewhere I resupplied.
