Now that I have seen some posts dating back to Pharo's time it got me thinking. How and when did you discover CBID?

For me it was at the big B&M cicagr bar in Orlando last July. Had a few BOTL tell me all about it and the rest was history.

I found it through a cigar website (not a competitor) that reviews cigars, (about 25 "top" cigars a day)...

BOTL were talking about not paying retail and something called CBid...

I "googled" it and ta da...here I am.

bdiddy,

Where do you live?

Nick Perdomo told me about it at a tasting at the "big store" location in Heathrow!

I was looking for another source for a cigar I was smoking at the time. They carried it here. I clicked on the forum on accident once, and there were all these guys throwing their knowledge around. It was amazing. Then there's the jokes.

All of a sudden I wasn't watching tv.

The wonders of the world wide web, and an affinity of smoking cigars that I enjoy. I happened to find Cigar Bid, though I was apprehensive about bidding on cigars, thinking they might not be of the caliber of my local B&M. They proved me wrong =)

At cigarfest, someone told me that if I thought Cigar International had good deals, I should check out CBid. I have been hooked since. For over 20 years I just bought from the local B&M or when on Vacations. Long Live CBid.

Robert,

I live in northern New Jersey. I'm in sales so I travel. Remeber I called you last month when I was in Orlando to herf but the timing was not right.

I get to Orlando a few times a year and I always try to spend some time at that bar.

Before the dotcom blowup, CI was selling stuffing (humidors) through onsale.com I traced the return address back to CI and then found CigarBid that was just starting up.

A neighbor of mine told me and he had a whole upright standing humidor full of cigars. I figured that he must be getting some pretty good deals so I followed his advice to try C-Bid.
Loyal customer since then.

I was bitching about the place I used to order cigars from to a friend(too expensive, high shipping charges, long shipping times, crappy house brands - figure it out yet?) and he told me about this place. Been a loyal customer for over 4 years now.

Ironically I've been buying cigars here and there from Cigarsinternational.com since about 1996/7. A few years ago I found CBID while looking for a specific cigar via google....thought it was too good to be true initially....after burning through several credit cards, I'm pretty sure it's true, just not positive about the good part :-/)

Someone posted a link to a great deal on box of PI's at another site. I followed it, placed my bid and won.

Shortly after that I stopped buying PI's but still stuck around.

Usenet.

They did have the warning that this could get seriously addictive--but I was too dumb to listen.

(btw there is one discussion group that refers to this place as "that evil site".)
