Anybody that's read this board knows that I lean heavily towards the right. But I've got to take exception to the new decision by Attorney General Ashcroft to OK the investigation of all the recent pardons. What is he trying to gain by this? What does he expect to find? Clinton is too slick to leave a smoking gun. We already know he has no ethics and that many of the pardons were for personal financial gain. It's time the republicans dropped this matter. Didn't Kenneth Star prove that Clinton won't get caught on the major issues?

As everyone knows I also tend to be to the right! However, I fully agree with what you have said regarding investigating the "pardons"! Slick Willie will slither free and some innocent dupe will take the fall! Let's drop it and move on!

I was wondering if I would get through the day without addressing this but now someone has done it for me and so I can speak my peice. The pardons handed down by Presidents on the way out have been historically controversial. Witness the Iran-Contra pardons. The founding fathers made the decision to grant the absolute power of pardon to the president, and even then it was controversial. But this is a rediculous ploy to take focus away from the President and to vilify the Democratic party through Bill Clinton. How long will we continue to spend money on this crap? ARgghh!!!

The republican party has no reason to take attention away from its' chosen leader. Even though you feel that this is a "ploy" it is simply a feable attempt to make up for the fact that slick willy slipped through an impeachment unscathed. They want his head on a platter and are frustrated that they never got it. Although YOU think that Bush needs a smoke screen, the republicans want the tax cut to gain momentum, not sputter in anonymity. Clinton is a thorn in the side for conservative America. Don't kid yourself to think otherwise.
