a hush falls over the land - it's all quiet on the passing front. everyone's waiting with bated breath for unklebill's return from across the pond.i think i'm more interested in what he smoked over there than what's going in the box....hmmmmm? nah, i'm not that lucky.LOL

Too true...My head is hung in shame.....So sorry to be the one holding up the chain. I was wondering why my ears have been ringing....neah...burning. I will contribute a bonus to the whip when I get back. All I have had so far is a Hoyo epicure. And let me tell you friends I was more than a little disappointed. After the ratings given this cigar in CA, I must only conclude that it was a counterfeit....though it was bought at what looked to be a reputeable dealer. All of the cigars were hung in a very orderly and professional manner from the inside of his coat. I will stop by a store on the way home from the office and pick up another to sample. Probably a Bolivar and from a different store. I will keep you posted. And remember forgiveness is a virtue.
.....Bill

I personally think this could be overlooked with a box of Cohiba Siglo II's.

Well Friends, after long last I am back and how good it is to be home. Right to the subject though, and without further ado, as I am never one to ramble about, mincing words, dancing around the subject and what-not.... The box was waiting for me when I got home. All seems to be in order. What a treat to have a package waiting. I am taking a La Gloria (thank you) as well as a Don Manola (thank you). The La Glorias are indeed looking a bit worse for the wear, but a little vegetable gum should work nicely. My other takes will be: 5 Vegas (pyramid...or torpedo?), Carlos Oliva, and La Luna robusto. My adds will be...
1. Macanudo Hyde Park Cafe, 2. Cordova Toro, 3. Don Juan Presedent, 4. Macanudo Robust (don't remember the model name..about 5.5*50), 5. Tamboril corona
I would recomend all these cigars though the Macanudo is a bit light for me. Particularly I have enjoyed the Tamboril, though it is a bit small. Also, I am including 6 V.M. Santana Lonsdales (one for each of you). Additionaly, I will do something else a bit different...I am including 6 more cigars which are not to be mixed with the others, but take one in addition to the three you normally take....they are not all the same, which I hope you do not see as unfair... I see it as part of the adventure....they are: two Regalos Presedente, two Victory Spirit Toro by Carlos Torano, & two Rey Del Mar Toro. Hope this does not cause too much confusion. If it does, suck an egg and call me in the morning. Many Thanks, Bill

As for London, I really was busy so I only smoked the Hoyo De Monterey, and a Montecristo #4. I brought back four: A St. Luis Rey, Montecristo #4, Partagas Serie D # 3 (or 4 can't recall), and a Romeo & Julietta. They will all be aging a bit in the 'dor. Advise if you are ever over. Buy the cigars at the duty free before you come back. They are cheaper there, with a good selection, and of course reputable.

Bill, what can you tell me about the Victory spirit, I have been considering these for a while now but I'm leery of brands unrecomended to me. Thank you in advance.

popps,
The victory spirit I can recommend. It's not a cuban but definately a worthy smoke. It has a very peppery flavor and is well constructed. Definately won't leave you searching for flavor. And as for bang for the buck, I give it an A-. But the biggest surpise I have had recently (well the Dos Rios wins hands down in the best suprise category)but other than that is the tamboril....enjoy...

Hey, Rob. Just had one of your adds I took, the Signature Collection, this morning. A nice morning cigar! Really nice draw -- (Who likes working hard at anything in the morning?) This may be premature, but anyone know what the rules will be on the second pass? I imagine we have quite a few in the box now. Thanks to all those who've added extras. Are we still humidifying the contents? Some have been in the box for a quite a while now. Have a good day, a magnificent day!

I can't take credit. The signature I believe was Randalls addition. Right Randall?? Cliff talking about RULES for round 2...some of us have yet to see ROUND 1 Cliff! I'm just glad Bill put that box of Montecristo #4 's in.

Sounds good to me. Do we also want to limit the number that can be taken out at a time? I just want to make sure a Fittipaldi box-pressed given by one of our outstanding members is still left when it gets to me. (Are these intended as a give-away to each member or just regular additions to the box?)

I think we should limit stick swap to 5. Guys? PS No taking all the Montes and replacing with Mels Box Pressed Closet Dog Rocket selection.

Cliff,
Just one Fitipaldi per member. I got a few other "gift" cigars up my sleeve for the next round. Maybe the next one will be faster if Bill doesn't have to go to Timbuktu or one of the "stans" this time: )

Hey, now. You can't beat a freebie! I'm actually looking forward to the "puppy logs". I've never tried a dry-cured cigar before. Mel, these are truly dry-cured, right? Not porch-dried sun-cured?
