okay, here it is. Over the past year, I smoked a box of ten Macanudo Robust, Prince Philip, 8 had a very tough draw that needed serious work. I smoked a box of the Maduro's, 10 size box, same size, again same results. I smoked half of the box of maduro Hyde Park, the ones that look like a bowling pin, maybe three had a decent draw (I was very embarassed when I handed some out at a barbeque and all had tight draws) So what's the deal, do Macanudo's normally have a tight draw, is that what makes them so mild? I do like the flavor, but what a lot of work to get smoke production. I also have a box of the Prine of Wales in the regular line that I also won at an auction here last fall, I am a bit paranoid about cracking it open now.

For the record, I have never smoked a Mac that I actually enjoyed, especially the Maduro's. I've never tried their Vintage line cause I won't spend the money given the likelyhood I will be disappointed. Although I have not experienced the draw problems that you describe I simply don't like the taste!!

It always amazes me that everyone finds such different opinions on the same smoke ( as witnessed by my comments on the Acid line ). While I have encountered a couple of tight drawing Macs. ( a couple literally )I find this brand very delicious as well as exceptionaly mild. I rate the vintage line as one of the best cigars I have ever enjoyed. If I would criticize any point about the macs. it would be that perhaps they are a bit to mild ( thus we now have Mac. Robust ). Am I alone in this evaluation?

I agree that I never had a tight drawing Macanudo...but I have been turned off by their pervasive pencil lead taste.

All Mac's I have had always had a decent draw. But your idea of a excellent draw may be different from others....then again, they may have been too tightly wrapped for anyone. I am not a big Mac fan so I could not say that my conclusions are fairly straight across the board.

I've experienced tight draws from Mac's Hyde Park series. But I keep a few around for an occasional a.m. smoke.

no the draw I have been experiencing is not the norm believe me, very tight, and practically burst a blood vessel trying to extract a bit of smoke out of it. Well I wonder why I have had this experience with Macanudo then, it is about the only cigar that I have been smoking with this problem, so I may have been the victim of some bad luck here. But though not my favorite, I certainly wouldn't put them in the category of beetle dung, I think they are pretty good, that is why I keep trying them.

The Mac Vintage cigars are very good! I stay away from thier regular line though. The vintage series are well rolled and are an easy draw with a nice mild flavor. They are worth the money.

After smoking a few different Macanudos, I am mystified as to why they are so popular. With the exception of the Vintage 1993 #2, they seem to be relatively lacking in flavor and somewhat tight in the draw. The vintage #2 is pretty good but not a good value for the money.

I recently tried the Robust Prince Philip and was astonished at the excellent flavor and construction. I've tried Macs before and hated them. I agree that it's quite mild and may not be acceptable to some. I was wondering if I actually had a cherry and maybe not all of them are that good...

I'll try to close this topic by saying Macanudo cigars are a result of marketing genius. This was the first “gimmick popular” cigar in the states during the cigar boom and this piece of fecal matter nicely rolled and wrapped in burnt napkins, still sells at ridiculous prices. I get a kick out of reading these posts on tight draw problems found amongst these **** sticks. Who knows, maybe the “creator” had corn for dinner that night!!

I find the Mac an overall good cigar although the regular brand is very mild, it is a GREAT AM cigar. Out of about 50 I have smoked (all varieties), I maybe have had 2 or 3 with a bad draw. Sounds like the guy who started this thread (sorry, can't remember your name), might be cutting his cigar wrong to get so many with bad draws. If Mac isn't know for it's taste, it's definitely know for it's construction.

If you really want to find out what smoking a Macanudo is about, treat yourself to a Vint."93" No.6. This cigar is the best medium-bodied cigar made...imho.

A Macanudo Maduro that I smoked during a bachelor party at a pool hall started me on this journey some 20 yrs ago.

Was a nice starter smoke. Would I buy one again? Not likely but there is some nostalgia tied to it.

Had a Mac Maduro somewhere along the line. It was a decent smoke.
