Reflecting on the studied vanity of the 56 yr. old George Bush running for miles in triple digit temperatures at his Texas 'ranch,' as if to prove he's more of a man than all those wimpy football players in the news dying of heatstroke, a further question kept nagging at me, namely, what kind of adult has the freedom to spend so many discretionary hours daily in beautifying exercise? And it hit me - Bush enjoys the
lifestyle of a Trophy Wife! The parallels are uncanny: like the Trophy Wife, Bush leaves the heavy lifting to others - strategy to Karl Rove, message to Karen Hughes, implementation to ****** Cheney, wisdom from his own Poppy; leaving Bush blissfully free to pursue his most perfect image of himself. As a Trophy Wife may garner laurels and legitimacy from the arduous tasks of directing interior decorators and the caterers, so too does Bush take 'security briefings and 'meetings' (and they must be punctual!) Not that Bush is actually making the decisions, he is obviously not the actual Commander in Chief - from the bombing of Iraq to planned actions off the China coast, military decisions are not being made in the White House; Bush only even hears about them afterward. In any event, little seems to interfere with his schedule of workouts and naps. But then, so goes the life of the Trophy Wife, who presents the perfect appearance of femininity while eschewing its nurturing essence
- leaving the raising of the kids to nannies, cooking to the personal chef, etc. And so we have George Bush as the complete embodiment of what's come to be known as ornamental masculinity. He doesn't do the thinking, the doing, or the deciding, nothing at all than can remotely be considered productive. But he's fit! He can run miles in the heat! He's confident in his own mind he's more butch than anyone! And apparently, in Bush's mind, that's enough.

I guess if your not getting your C*** sucked in the oval office or not looking for your next victim or lying under oath or making a list of objects to steal or dropping bombs to divert attention from his shady deals or selling out the country to the chinnese for contribution or taking pardons for dollars then you must not be presidential.

Rick, (or should I call you Mister Contradiction?) you once again have played both sides of the coin. You constantly berate Bush for appearing to be dumb, and you are embarrassed that he stumbles verbally. Yet you just posted some diatribe that claims Bush is able to "pursue his most perfect image of himself" due to his abundance of free time. If that were true, wouldn't the Great GOP Machine have a finer running engine than the one that stutters and backfires much to your dismay? Wouldn't we instead have a smooth talking public clone of Reagan or even Bubba himself? With that much free time, even Dan Quayle could learn to spell Potato(e). Next we'll hear that he is too tall and too short. The car temperature is too hot/too cold. The Tax rebate is too much / I didn't get enough.

Rick, you should harness the hatred you have for Bush and sell it to Grey Davis for fuel to help with the energy crisis! I am sure he would pay triple the going rate for energy, since that is what he has done in the past and then start pointing fingers at everybody else............you probably voted for him! Charlie

tailgater: first he is not appearing to be dumb. why is he pursuing a perfect image of himself?. perhaps like any trophy wife, physical appearance is more important than mental skills. why hasen't the gop turned him into a smooth running engine? interesting question. hell, even quale was taught to appear as though he knew what he was talking about. why indeed has the gop been unable to at least make him presentable? incidently, i assume you watched his speech. did you notice he was not looking at the camera? he was looking slightly to his left, our right, to read what was written. do you really think he knows his a** from a whole in the ground about stem cells? so far israeli scientist have managed to produce cells that appear to generate heart muscle to rebuild a heart damaged from a heart attack and cells that could have an affect on the body producing more insulin to help diabetics. other countries including the usa are looking to cure other diseases. look for my next post.
