al davis will bring up criminal charges against the refs...btw, were those the same refs that hosed the browns in the infamous "bottle game" against jacksonville?

According to the rules, NO, but watch the arm forward ruling be adjusted in the off season! It could not have happened to a more deserving prick than Al Davis! Charlie

I was there. The apparent fumble hushed the masses. A slight delay (which felt like hours) and then they announced they would review the play. The poor-excuse for a jumbotron at Foxboro stadium showed a blurry picture of Brady's arm moving forward. Hope escalated. The ref announced the overturned ruling. A wild frenzy ensued which still owns most of my hearing and all of my voice. But the best was yet to come...

For the record, I have seen the television replay from every angle at every speed. It is obvious that Brady himself wanted to pull back his attempted pass, and the ball dropped because of it. In my "opinion" it seems like a fumble. But the Official NFL Rule Book clearly states that if the arm is moving forward (on purpose) and the ball is dropped or otherwise freed from possesion "before being TUCKED away", then it is ruled an incomplete pass. The problem is the word "tucked". It is not defined. And based on that rule the officials made the proper call. By the book.

And one more thing. Although that play would have most likely resulted in a Raiders victory, it did not cause them to lose the game. That fumble allowed for the ugly 45 yard field goal which tied the score. When the two teams started the overtime period, it was anybody's game to win. The Raiders defense simply couldn't stop them when it counted. Besides, that was payback for the late 70's "Phantom roughing the passer" call against the Pats which directly resulted in the game winning score for the Raiders (who went on to win the Superbowl that year). Revenge is a dish best served cold...

Yes, and it could not have happened to a more deserving crew.

The only way the Raiders could have been jobbed is if they were pro 'rasslers. And I didn't see any of them in the Royal Rumble last night. So I think they just got what they deserved, an end to the season. Todd
