I just smoked the best cigar. Starts off creamy, works into a smooth coffee flavor. Burned perfectly and had nice white long ash. Anybody ever smoke one that compares this or better. Please inform me of cigars comparible. Thanks

Sounds like you're describing one of my favorite cigars, a CAO La Aniversario Robusto..I've never had a bad one yet...Very white, firm ash, definite coffee flavor, beautiful maduro wrapper..Excellent finish!...a very tasty treat!...I recommend this cigar highly!..I personally never have had much luck with La Gloria..Never had a great one...Dunno why..

Nick's Cigar in Miami makers of CAO, and Perdomo and many others has a gem of a cigar in the Perdomo2 Torfecto. Quite arguably the best cameroon wrappered cigar made today. Very smooth and creamy, but it is powerful enough to knock you off your chair if you inhale, or at the very least make your head spin and eyes roll back in your head!!! However, it is an EXCELLENT cigar that must be tried. ($7-8)

I just had for the first time a Perdomo today (NOT the Perdomo2, which looks incredible)..This one (I believe was a torfecto-kind of looks like a cross between a perfecto and a torpedo, hence the name I assume) was exquisite!..I was admiring the Perdomo 2s and will try one next!..Thanx for the advice!

For that creamy soft taste, you may want to try one of the Ashton aged maduros. I prefer the 60 size, but there are smaller sizes closer to the wavelle.

One of my favorites that tastes very much like you describe is the Hoyo de Monterey Excalibur, I prefer the Number I's. It is an excellent smoke with a nice maduro wrapper, just allow yourself an hour and a half or so to enjoy it:)

Also, a new "favorite" of mine is the Arturo Fuente Canone(sp?)...absolutely wonderful flavor, creamy espresso, a delight to smoke. This one also requires some time to enjoy, I got two periods of the last Bruins game of the season out of one last night:)

I agree, hidden gems as most people think they belong in the trash. My only gripe is the construction, but for the flavors and aroma its worth it.

.....The La Gloria Cubano Maduro is an average darkie. Always has been. Their are a few dozen better Maduro/Oscuro options to choose from here are CigarBid starting with CAO BRAZILIA, CAO ICON, JAVA MADURO, ROCKY PATEL 20TH ANNIVERSARY MADURO, HC MADURO2, MAN O' WAR PHALANX, MAN O' WAR SKULL CRUSHER, MAN O' WAR DAMNATION, DIESEL WICKED, AVE MARIA ARGENTUM, BRICK HOUSE MADURO, UNDERCROWN, ROCKY PATEL FLOR de SAN ANDRES, GRAYCLIFF 1666, LA GRAN LLAVE MADURO, and PARTAGAS CIFUENTES MADURO just to name 16! The regular line La Gloria Maduro is very generic compared to all these blends. Try them. You'll see for yourself. They can all be gotten for for a $3.00 per cigar max Bid, Most often less.

FWIW, I recall the Wavell as a much different, and to my taste anyway, much better smoke 20 years ago than it is today.

Familiar story. Have there ever been any blends that actually improved over the years (not new releases) or are us noobs simply stuck with the stories of cigars past?

For all the crap people like to fling at Fuente I believe consistency has been a stall worth trademark of theirs.....

Look what happened with Drew Estates, Viaje, EPC, Alec Bradley.....

I believe Tatuaje, DPG and Dion G have all earned street cred for consistency as well.

I actually liked the Wavells I have had. Good flavor, good burn, and, as said above, consistent. Perhaps the OR's were better, but the ones they are selling now are worth the money when they show up on a deal.

BTW, what was the LGC maddie in a PC size - came in cardboard 5 packs -- now that was a gem hidden in plain sight...went through an awful lot of those in the way back
