I just fired up my first Tatuaje Verocu West Side. Everyone who has smoked one of these claim it to be their all-time favorite cigar. So I finally brought myself to smoke one of the only two I have. Of the 2 I have, one is labeled verocu west side, the other exclusivo lado occidental. I wonder why they have 2 different names. Anyone know why?
I got this bad boy at a herf at NHC, when I got the chance to meet & smoke with him. I believe njstone was the one who hooked me up, I gave him an Anejo shark for it, he gave it to me, but I felt it only right to give him a shark in return. A great BOTL, got to talk (and smoke) with him for quite a while. We started talking about fine smokes, he mentioned the tat west side as his favorite. I told him I had one but was reluctant to smoke it, cause I probably would never get another. Out of nowhere he whipped one out, and said, here, now you can smoke one. A class act that was totally unexpected!
Now...to enjoy it...will post later my thoughts...

Edward---the Original Release of these Verocu#1, the Label Said Lado Occidental on the second band.

I think they had a second release go out and for people to identify them, the second label was change to Verocu West side.

I would belive the same for the Verocu#2 original said Zona de Este. and later became the Verocu East side.

With that being said the line expanded into the Verocu Line. then came the Verocu #9, and then the Verocu Tubo

^ that's correct, though they weren't actually separate releases, they were all one batch of cigars, but the boxes themselves trickled out of the factory (like the Tubos now). I think that after some initial confusion from the first shipments, they changed the 2nd bands of the rest of the shipments. I believe they were all rolled during the same period, though, and they certainly taste the same to me.

da76guinness--you're welcome, bro! Enjoy :)

^ I have a couple of those, smoked one like 2 weeks ago, WONDERFUL! The whole time I was thinking, "When God invented the tobacco plant, He did so while a smile on his face while thinking of this cigar!"

WOW!!
That was a damn fine cigar. I could see some similarities to the new verocu tubos, however lightly. It had one of the best aftertastes on the palate, cinnamon- like, very enjoyable. Then the final third of the cigar seemed to change quite a bit, hard to describe, but it was the best finish on a cigar I've smoked in quite some time.
Excellent cigar, thanks njstone for hooking me up!

I can totally see why people say it is one of the best cigars they have had. It has everything your looking for in a smoke.

BTW, I've had about 37 different Tatuajes now, which I believe still leaves me short about 19 others, but knockmdown just sent me a couple I don't recobonize.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Edward! Yea, the West/East Side Verocu are just so unique. Unlike any cigar I've ever smoked, and honestly far beyond.

Every time I smoke one, a little part of me says "What's the point of smoking any other cigar?" Then another part of me says, ""Cuz there's not that many left in the world and I have to space them out a bit."

The new Tubo is very good, and with some age has the potential to be truly awesome. But I doubt it will ever equal the OG.

Still have a few of the originals. And IIRC #7 above gifted some to me when he stopped smoking years ago.
