This will show my ignorance, I'm sure, when it comes to politics, but I've haven't kept up much lately. A question: Why hasn't Elizabeth Dole's name been mentioned? Maybe it's the experience factor. Maybe she has already declared she's not interested. Don't get me wrong, I'm pleased with names mentioned thus far. Other thoughts?

Anybody but McCain. Let McCain run with Gore, they deserve each other.

Looks like former defense secretary ****** Cheney will get the nod. Elizabeth Dole poses too much of a risk right now. I agree that she would probably do an excellent job possibly grabbing some liberal "women activates" votes, but losing some old-school highly-conservative votes. He's doing well and doesn't want to rock the majority interests.

Oops -- a little premature on the "enter" key. THIS JUST IN (heard just moments ago on the radio): Bush is having serious discussion with Collin Powell! I thought Cheney was the man. Thoughts?

powell sits on the fence way too much. he won't declare himself a republican and i don't think he wants his personal life opened up to the scrutiny of being a vp. i doubt he would accept unless he really couldn't stand to see Gore win. he probably would convert some of the african-american population (traditionally liberal) Bush's way. we'll see.

HOW ABOUT JOHN KASICH? MAYBE HE NEEDS AN OLDER GUY TO SHED HIS UNWARRANTED DADDY'S BOY IMAGE IN THE PRESS. AS MUCH AS I DESPISE MCCAIN, IT WOULD BE A SURE THING WINNING TICKET UNLESS MCCAIN GOES POSTAL AT THE CONVENTION.
