arnold was elected governer of california in oct 2003. the republicans sensing a new hero joining their ranks, attempted to amend the constitution to allow someone foriegn born to be elected president.

they thought arnold was a winner for them, which turned out not to be true.

today arnold spoke against cotporations attempting to overturn california's strict anti-pollution laws.

this was not posted on u-tube without msnbc refering to it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9oOFtmT_EA

now they want to investigate obama's birth place because they don't like what he is doing.

the GOP is going to destroy this country.

Yes, the GOP (who does not have control of the White House or ether House of Congress) is going to destroy this country. All while a Democratic President and Democratic control over both Houses of Congress do absolutely nothing. If only there was some way for the party in control to stop them.

After years of defendeding the GOP it sure is fun when its not your guys running the country into the ground.

You deserve what you elect Rick.

Then again the victim mentality is strong with you.

Nobody is changing any legislation to allow a foreigner (birth certificate or not) to run for President.

Also, I think the birther stuff on El Presidente Bobblehead started pre-election 2008. Not exactly a headline.

As I recall, there were Dummycrat birthers worried about McCain being born in the canal zone. I didn't see any panic about the country going down the tubes when they were spraying their psychobabble around.

Here's the bottom line for ya - Congress has had 4 years of socialist rule to make their utopia work. Their poster boy has had 2 years in the big chair - 2 to go. Unless there is some kind of miracle in the next month, the socialist experiment hits a brick wall Nov. 2, 2010, and poster boy goes to the curb on the next cycle. It'll take another 2 or 3 election cycles for everyone to forget and buy into the bull**** just one more time to see if it works any differently.

It was nothing more than a discussion point.

now they want to investigate obama's birth place because they don't like what he is doing. What do you mean by "now"? Obama's birth was questioned from day one, and then on day 188 he provided his proof. But the thing is, you need to re-read your post and take a different perspective. The GOP, according to you, wanted to ammend the rule in order to be in compliance. The dems, on the other hand, simply ignored the rule and now cry foul when questioned.

the GOP is going to destroy this country The USSO (United States of Socialists under Obama) will not be worth destroying. It would be akin to squashing an already dead bug.

why can't the GOP attract any one that is not so far off the reality path and have to pick retarded wackos.

I have big time liberal teachers and professors that I herf with and they are all disgusted with this crowd. You have dem control of congress since 2006 and the Pres in 2008 and the country is going down in flames.

Maven, you can't be that stupid to believe this bs of yours.

People are pissed and they are tired of being pushed around by their own government.

We know exactly what a RINO is and Arhold (married to a Kennedy) is no republican and we will get rid of them with lots and lots of 'crats who talk conservative at home but dance for Pelosi and Reid in DC.

Maybe Homebrew is right maybe you should STFU.

[color=darkblue]This is a pretty bad thread, Rickamaven, who spouts some silly crap to start it and then everybody taking shots at the :Left Wing Cut and Paste champ!

I think that this is one reason I have stayed off this Political thread this long, and I am giving thought to retreating to other threads as well.......

However, Rick, how can you say Republicans are ruining this Country when you Dumbocrats have control of both houses and the Oval Office? Gee, what is up with that kind of remark? What made you come up with such a mind boggling statement? Bad Booze? Along these lines I watched Bill O Show last night and he had the second interview with wacko further than Left Bill Maher, who stole all of his routines from Dennis Miller by the way, and this guy is even nuttiier than I thought he was. He hates folks who disagree with him and why HBO allows him to spout off weekly with a few Liberal Journalists and actors is far beyond reason. The no-talent hack lost his one job when he proclaimed "how brave the 9-11 terrorist were that crashed airplanes into buildings" and needs to lose this job as well.

Back to sports, too bad the Ryder Cup is in a rain delay right now!!!!!!!!![/

That would be cool! LOL

When you think about it, over the last few years, the Republican party has been nothing more than an unarmed insurgency.

from Mirriam-Webster - insurgency 1: the quality or state of being insurgent; specifically : a condition of revolt against a government that is less than an organized revolution and that is not recognized as belligerency.

Rick, as usual your posts are barely worth responding to, but I'm bored at the moment, so why not? Where is the evidence that the GOP tried to amend the constitution? Just direct me to an article where a GOP group organized efforts to do this.

Arnold is barely a Republican, and I'm not sure even what point you are making about him. One individual is not representative of an entire party anyway.

And now "they" want to investigate where Obama was born? Send the link to the article where "the GOP" is initiating this effort now.

And the most important question, how does any of what you describe remotely approach the destruction of the country? I really feel sorry for you: either you've gone throughout life being this misguided, or old age is starting to take its toll. Either way it's bad.

This coming from the guy who drops the N-word when describing black people, and the guy who voted for Idi Amin Jr. simply because of the color of his skin.

I'll bet all of those medical records you "lost" of soldiers during your brief time in the military were those of the not-so-lilly-white men, of whom who have shown total disdain over the years you've posted here.

perhaps some accurat information will help you to understand i am n0ot a dumb ass, as so many of the lunatic riung wing here wish you to believe. i have rarely been misguided and old age has not made me forgetfull.

the fact that i am one of the few outspoken liberals or progressives on this site does not diminish my enthusiasm for my beliefs, and a few gnats buzzing around don't back me down.

here is one of the articles and orin hatch's introduction to the senate for the amendment called "the arnolkd amendment."

you don't need to suddebly turn into a liberal or adjust your feeling about what is happening to the country, but you should at least be informed of some of it's recent history.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/10/24/opinion/main579874.shtml

on July 10, 2003, Orrin Hatch, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee,
took action against what he calls "an anachronism that is decidedly un-
American." He introduced a bill that would allow a person who has been a
U.S. citizen for 20 years and a resident for 14 years to run for president.
Schwarzenegger recently celebrated his 20th year as a U.S. citizen, though
employees of the Senate Judiciary Committee, where the bill currently
stands, says the birth of Hatch's bill had nothing to do with the political
aspirations of the Austrian-born muscleman. While introducing his "Equal
Opportunity to Govern" Amendment before the Senate, Hatch said that
perhaps the most disturbing aspect of our Constitution as it reads today is
that "scores of foreign-born men and women who have risked their lives
defending the freedoms and liberties of this great nation remain ineligible
for the Office of President." More than 700 recipients of the Congressional
Medal of Honor have been immigrants, he added. The amendment, which
some have dubbed the "Arnold Amendment," would have to be approved
by two-thirds of the Senate and House and three-fourths of the states.

Rick, you lose. I said to show evidence where a GOP "group" tried to amend the constitution, and you gave me a link to an article that is seven years old where ONE SENATOR introduced it, and obviously the party did not get behind it since it never went anywhere. Sorry, you lose. And you haven't/can't show me evidence where a GOP group is pressing an investigation of where Obama is born, and you certainly can't explain how this adds up to "the GOP is going to destroy this country." So let's summarize, you bring to these boards a seven year-old story where a single Republican introduced one bill and that equals "the GOP is going to destroy this country." If that's all you got, just pack it in man.

perhaps you do not understand how the senate works. one senator introduces a bill and then there is a roll call.

i said a group, and i meaamt a group

Roll call on the Arnold amendment
The editorial page asked each U.S. senator and represenative from California his or her thoughts on amending the Constitution to allow naturalized citizens to seek the presidency. Here's what they said.

January 14, 2007

Question: Would you support a constitutional amendment to allow naturalized citziens to seek the presidency? Yes: 15. No: 9

Members of Congress who said "yes."
Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D-Alamo
Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel
Rep. Jim Costa, D-Fresno
Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Bakersfield
Rep. Lois Capps, D-Santa Barbara
Rep. David Dreier, R-San Dimas
Rep. Brad Sherman, D-Sherman Oaks
Rep. Howard Berman, D-Valley Village
Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Los Angeles
Rep. Jane Harman, D-Venice
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Huntington Beach
Rep. John Campbell, R-Irvine
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista
Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-Solana Beach
Rep. Bob Filner, D-Chula Vista

Members of Congress who said "no."
Rep. Tom Lantos, D-Burlingame
Rep. Pete Stark, D-Fremont
Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Atherton
Rep. Buck McKeon, R-Santa Clarita
Rep. Hilda Solis, D-El Monte
Rep. Diane Watson, D-Los Angeles
Rep. Grace Napolitano, D-Norwalk
Rep. Ed Royce, R-Fullerton
Rep. Joe Baca, D-Rialto

Other responses to this question
Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco: The Speaker has expressed support for an amendment that would allow naturalized citizens to become president with a 35-year residency requirement.
Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Oakland: I am sure there are many foreign-born citizens who are inherently qualified to hold the office of president. I also believe that the Constitution is our nation's most sacred document, and should only be amended under the most extraordinary circumstances. I am willing to examine whether the question of permitting foreign born citizens to become president constitutes such a circumstance.
Rep. Michael Honda, D-San Jose: Generally speaking, Rep. Honda would support an amendment allowing naturalized citizens to run for president, but would have to analyze the details of any specific measure before endorsing it.
Rep. Howard Berman, D-Valley Village: Yes, but it's a very low priority.
Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Corona: Yes, but only for those who've been citizens for 25 years.
Sen. Barbara Boxer, D: I would want to look at the specific language of any proposed amendment before taking a position on it.

Question: As a Californian, do you think it's fair that our governor can't run for president because he's a naturalized citizen? Yes: 9. No: 15

Members of Congress who said "yes."
Rep. Pete Stark, D-Fremont
Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel
Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Bakersfield
Rep. Buck McKeon, R-Santa Clarita
Rep. Diane Watson, D-Los Angeles
Rep. Grace Napolitano, D-Norwalk
Rep. Ed Royce, R-Fullerton
Rep. Joe Baca, D-Rialto
Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-Solana Beach

Members of Congress who said "no."
Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D-Alamo
Rep. Tom Lantos, D-Burlingame
Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Atherton
Rep. Jim Costa, D-Fresno
Rep. Lois Capps, D-Santa Barbara
Rep. David Dreier, R-San Dimas
Rep. Brad Sherman, D-Sherman Oaks
Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Los Angeles
Rep. Hilda Solis, D-El Monte
Rep. Jane Harman, D-Venice
Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Corona
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Huntington Beach
Rep. John Campbell, R-Irvine
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista
Rep. Bob Filner, R-Chula Vista

Other responses to this question
Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco: The Speaker believes it's not fair that naturalized citizens can't run for president.
Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Oakland: Yes, it's fair, because that's what the Constitution says. It isn't about individuals.
Rep. Michael Honda, D-San Jose: Rep. Honda believes that it is unfair that naturalized citizens may not run for president.
Rep. Howard Berman, D-Valley Village: No, but on the list of items that are unfair, this is very small.

Other responses to both questions
Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D-Alamo: Include a requirement of U.S. residency for at least 35 years.
Rep. Tom Lantos, D-Burlingame: There are plenty of well-qualified people born in this country every year, and the Constitution is too valuable a document to be modified for the convenience of a few.
Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-San Jose: The constitutional provision requiring our president to be born in the U.S. is an anachronism. But given all the challenges facing our country currently, it is not important enough to warrant action. There are many capable and talented people in our country right now that are able to run for president. If I were to push to alter our constitution, I would work to pass the Equal Rights Amendment before this issue.
Rep. Jim Costa, D-Fresno: Most of the time I believe there is enough talent in the pool of native-born Americans to have a decent choice.
Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Burbank: I think that naturalized citizens, with a suitable length of residency, should be allowed to run for any office.
Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Los Angeles: I favor a constitutional amendment to allow naturalized citizens to run for president, even those I may not support myself.
Rep. Linda Sanchez, D-Lakewood: Congresswoman Sanchez believes that we should encourage more people into public service -- including those who have chosen to be Americans -- and would support a constitutional amendment that allows qualified naturalized citizens to serve in any elected office, including the presidency.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D: When this issue last came before the Senate Judiciary Committee, I raised a number of serious concerns and indicated that I would be "reluctant" to change the Constitution, which in itself is difficult to do. With that said, there is currently no constitutional amendment on this issue before the Senate, and I am keeping an open mind on future proposals.
