Seems the waterboarding worked

4 years ago, Khalid Sheik Mohammed during interrogations at Gitmo, gave up the information that eventually led to killing of bin Laden. Now, I think we can finally put to rest the questions about the importance of Gitmo and the waterboarding of the top guy. Even Pres. Obama, who was against Gitmo before he got into office, eventually saw the importance of it and thereby did not close it.

Bin Laden raid was culmination of years of work, senior administration officials say

Sunday afternoon’s raid by U.S. forces that killed Osama bin Laden was the “culmination of years of careful and highly advanced intelligence work,” senior administration officials said in a conference call, describing the genesis of an operation that sounded like it was right out of a “Mission Impossible” movie.
Some time after Sept. 11, detainees held by the U.S. told interrogators about a man believed to work as a courier for bin Laden, senior administration officials said. The man was described by detainees as a protégé of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and “one of the few Al Qaeda couriers trusted by bin laden.”
Initially, intelligence officials only had the man’s nickname, but they discovered his real name four years ago.

Two years ago, intelligence officials began to identify areas of Pakistan where the courier and his brother operated, and the great security precautions the two men took aroused U.S. suspicions.
Last August, intelligence officials tracked the men to their residence in Abbottabad, Pakistan, a relatively wealthy town 35 miles north of Islamabad where many retired military officers live.
“When we saw the compound where the brothers lived, we were shocked by what we saw,” a senior administration official said.

This 'opinion' editorial and post just proves that the right is looking for any way to take political credit for Osama's death. Andy Card was on CNN last night saying Bush deserves a lot of credit for his 'resolve'.

If this had happened while Bush was still president, the right would be saying it validates all of Bush's policies, the liberals are p*ssies for objecting to the war in Iraq (like it is connected) and so much more. Hell, it's happening now and he's not even president.

Let's ponder the question: Who has done more harm to the US economy......Osama or Obama?

Ok, googled it, looked in news and the web. I found that Rep. King tweeted 'I wonder what President Obama thinks about waterboarding now', and the opinion posted by a guy who has blogs dedicated just to him to point out all his logical falacies (not an easy task). I see no news organization claiming this as fact, just wild speculation by bush-bots trying their hardest to give him credit and justify torture. If more information comes out later, I'll reconsider, but as of right now, it's bs.

Actually, it's a brand new custom made computer I just got 6 days ago. Really rocks, super fast, liquid cooling, can run any game at max settings without a problem, all that cool stuff. My wife gets my old one, my kids get her old one and the one they were using gets thrown away. ;0 Although my oldest has her own laptop, and my wife has a laptop as well, mostly used for work.

Okay...we need to wait until Dan Rather (CBS) calls it fact.

Wait.....what's that? Dan Rather lied? You mean the news agencies spin things to meet their objective? Damn....who knew......

Yeah, I'll listen to a news agency because they are reliable and smart........

Dude,,

Why do think Obama kept Gitmo open ? Obviously, after being briefed after he was coronated, he realized how much useful info a litlle torture can produce.

I know it shatters a dedicated lefty's world view but so what ???

Which is exactly why you are so misinformed most of the time - you read and listen to douchenozzles who paint a picture you find pleasing and you disregard anything you don't like. Fair and balanced you are not nor will you ever be.

Even if lefty doesnt want to admit it, he knows deep down, it is the dirty work of righty that got us to this day. I am proud our fearless lefty leader did not puss out at the last minute. I give due credit to both sides. This op and the intelligence to complete it did not come overnight. it is the result of years of hard work that have finally paid off. Neither "side" really matters to me in this. America did this. not righty, not lefty. Lets stop arguing about it and relish victory!

Of course there is dirty work involved. The claim made is that waterboarding is what lead to Osama's death. I am saying that is BS.

Wrong again Putin..

The CIA found out who Bin laden's courier was from KSM.They finally tracked him to Bin Laden last august.

So,the "initial tip" was given by KSM while being tortured...

I did, found nothing. Wheel made the claim, support it. When I have told someone to google, it was about a topic to learn about and research where there is tons of data, even giving all the keywords to use. This is a claim of fact. Back it up, or shut up and say it was an incorrect assumption.

Intelligence officials discovered the compound in August while monitoring an al-Qaida courier. The CIA had been hunting that courier for years, ever since detainees told interrogators that the courier was so trusted by bin Laden that he might very well be living with the al-Qaida leader.

Look, we waterboarded EVERYONE at Gitmo or those sites off the books.

Code Pink even waterboards people in front of Pelosi for Pete's sake.

What do you think we were doing at Gitmo besides giving them prayer mats, 3 squares and a volleyball net?

Everyone or 3?

"Waterboarding has been used on only three detainees," Hayden told the Senate Intelligence Committee, publicly specifying the number of subjects and naming them for the first time, as Congress considers banning the technique.

He also testified that the technique had not been used since 2003.

He was CIA director Micheal Hayden. But he, of course is lying, etc etc.

Yes, the Director of the CIA told the truth (at least what they wanted to hear). Frankly, they can't handle the truth! Torturing has been going on since the beginning of time and nothing has changed - it works. Waterboarding is very effective and I'm guessing that it's used a lot more than the CIA is giving up. It's the freakin' CIA - of course they aren't going to tell the truth.

Ok. The editorial dude in the OP told the truth, everyone who says otherwise is lying. Yay! Whatever you need to justify your unsubstantiated opinion. Like I said, if it is true, I'll take back what I said. Right now it's just idle speculation in an attempt to justify torture and give the previous administration credit, making it political, something the right is asking everyone not to do.

Bunch of hypocritical bs.
