I know. Kidding. .. I hate Nickelback and Creed.

I got into Pantera a few months back for first time. It isn't bad. Classic stuff.

You may as well jam some Creed or Nickelback

Ha! That may be true, but Chris Cornell brought them pretty damn close.
Never before have I heard such a soulful melodic voice in such heavy music.
I had the good fortune of seeing him a few years back with Soundgarden at the Beale Street Festival in Memphis.
A few months before he made the choice to leave this earth. Such a shame.

You had a point, though, cigarlady. I like melodic metal with singing and that's not much of a real thing.
I'm somewhat picky and have trouble with many musical 'categorizations'.
Try Mudvayne, Killswitch Engage, Stabbing Westward or Helmet

Soundgarden is actually starting to be alright with me now. I saw them at Rock on the Range festival 4 or 5 years back. They had to grow on me. Took a while for me to get used to their style. And you are right, they are close to melodic metal.

Good band... I don't listen to them but they take a spot at the table for metal with a little melody.

I have been to hundreds of concerts and they were at a festival ... Had a very unique set behind some curtains.

Maynard's a crazy fugger. Definitely a performance art aspect to many of his shows. Started a vineyard out in NV or AZ somewhere too. Haven't tried it but a friend said it was good vino

One of the vids that Rebecca Vocal Athlete was 'reacting to' that I watched yesterday was Sober live -- she was just enthralled by the obvious emotion that he poured into that song

Sorry didn't know we were talking Metal. I don't really know the current bands. I still listen to Tool, Metallica, Slipknot, Type O negative and of course the 80's hair bands I grew up with. Currently listening to a Band called Bloodline - Northlake. So many I'm missing.

Now y'all got me started. Commencing with Aenima in it's entirety

Type O - caught them during (I think) the 2nd Ozzfest in Columbus, OH. Good times and rocking group. Highlight 1 - only time I've been in a riot (long story). Highlight 2 - only time I almost chit myself at a concert (cops in riot gear are kinda scary in real life)

My very first concert was WASP with Black Sabbath opening... I was about 13. It was the I F. U. K. like a Beast tour. Eye opening to say the least fer a little feller(ummmhmmm). First time I saw a girl walking around in nothing but a Tee shirt. Watched her hop over a small wall to get to the floor level and she..... lets say winked at me:-) Naked chick, Wild Turkey and some nice smoke made for an awesome first concert. And yes I was doing all that at 13... Me and my brother saw so many shows and ball games once we realized that once everyone was inside the guys at the gate could be bribed with a $20 and the words you're on your own kid followed us in.

We got to see every sold out Eagles vs Dallas game in the 80's this way.... Philly HATES Dallas. God Damned Herschel Walker..... I HATED that guy mostly because he didn't play for us.

My first (non parental accompaniment) was Meatloaf with Cheap Trick opening. What can I say? The female form is a powerful persuader. Ended up being a great show though.

The good old days when not only bribes, but tickets themselves were cheap. I think it was $25 for the aforementioned Ozzfest, for 10+ hrs of most of the hardest hitting bands of that time. Nowadays you can't get a concert shirt for that price. Maybe could buy you a beer for it. A second would be pushing it

Man you aren't kidding. Queen is coming through with what's his name singing... $400 for nose bleeds. Without the Greatest Frontman of all time singing I thought.... Maybe $50 -$60 for decent tix. I was stunned.

Btw do people still sleep out for tickets? Had a ton of fun sleeping out for Springsteen, Bowie, Amnesty International, etc etc tix. Never spent more than $25 for GOOD seats. Most concerts were a flat $20. Not front row but damned close.fog

I don't think the camping out happens anymore. Mostly people buying online before the brokers snatch them up and resell marked up from the already high face value. I wouldn't even know where to buy in person anymore.

In my experience the past few years, you'll be hard pressed to get into a big name show for anything less than $100. I'm still getting chit from the wife for not grabbing Petty tickets for Wrigley Field at $300/per (to be fair, I was late in the game on that one, but still betting they were high during initial sale). I told her no way. Then he up and died, and I will be reminded of this for the remainder of my days.

Even with him dying no way I would feel bad about not spending $300 and I'm a fan.

Mettalica. .. Yes please.
Never been A Slipknot fan.

Favorite band of all time doesn't exist anymore. If the members could reunite and do one more show before it's too late... I would fly to any country to see it.

Cigar lady, may have good instinct but no sense of budget. I just can't get on board with where costs have gone. How do kids even go to shows anymore?

Never thought of it in those terms... I guess kids today just don't get to see concerts like we used to. Jeez, I saw everybody and then some without even trying that hard. My son spent a weekend in NYC to see someone callled Logic. Tickets cost more than his hotel in Mid-town Manhattan for the weekend. That's just not right.Shame on you

Oh no... I go to.concerts every month. I love music. It is my religion. But I guess the difference is Im not a kid and I have passive / residual income that pays for stuff like concerts and cigars wine and shoes... And all the fetish bull...

Kids these days have to save for weeks to afford these shows or get it from mom and dad.

I just went to Dave Matthews band last month in Pensacola.. Floor tickets for Row 5 were $680 for me.

Although I’ve been a fan since “Strong Persuader”, haven’t listened much since the early ‘90s. Saw him open for Clapton in 2007.

Applause Love me some Bob Cray. The wife and I have seen him half a dozen times. His stuff before Persuader is good too.

Yes!!! Love that heavy, thunderous sound with those soulful vocals.
Dogman. Love that whole album ThumpUp

Saw them at an old theater venue in St. Charles (just west of Chicago) just a few months ago.
They haven't lost a thing. Still gettin it done.
