Another ‘70s mixed disc. This must have been the electric “companion” to the acoustic disc from yesterday. A couple of Van Morrison cuts, followed by Rod “the Mod” Stewart and then Todd Rundgren. Liking the start, think I’m gonna enjoy the rest.

77F / 84% RH / 15 mph - didn’t do a whole lot today, if it doesn’t rain tomorrow I should do some yard work

Mixed ‘80s disc. Have almost no recollection of making this but so far it’s all stuff that I liked in that decade.

74F / 96% RH / 14 mph - glad the temp is down and the breeze is in the teens, otherwise I’d be sweating like a pig out in the garage

Isaac Hayes - Ultimate Isaac Hayes: Can You Dig It?

This man was much more than “The Theme From ‘Shaft’”.

73F / 93% RH / 13 mph - shoulda done some yard work but was too damn humid

all the stuff you liked in that decade is why you have almost no recollection...

No chit...a compilation of 80s music I liked could probably fit on a ten year old flash drive

That's another no****ter. I listen to Hot Buttered Soul about once a month lately. His imprint was on sooo much more of the Stax catalog than many realize. He almost singlehandedly brought Stax back to life for a few years after certain death.
And you can't overlook his work on South Park, either.

Falco "Puttin' on the Ritz" cause the radio played it this AM.

And if you can sing along without doing the Frankenstein/Peter Boyle on the refrain you're a better man than me!

I cannot.

And thanks for that earworm, bur .....there are worse ones...but this one can be pretty persistent

Slacker...or whatever it's called now...Live X or something recommended I listen to a group I'd never heard of, Chainsmokers. So, I googled them and watched a vid on youtube....wtf???? 2Billion views...and holy bat crap..what garbage....I've always been sort of dismissive of pop, anyway, but I sure have gotten far removed from it...do not bother -- 1.999B views were probably 14 year old girls...I hope

Blood Sweat & Tears 3

Hi de ho and Lucretia McEvil were what most knew from this one, but 40000 Headmen is a great cover, if Sympathy for the Devil was a bit too out there

To be frank (...see what I did there? RollEyes ...), I made the disc for our shop so as I got deeper into it, there were more than a few songs that I would never have included if it were solely for myself. But you’re right, the ‘80s had a bunch of one-hit wonders and forgettable music.

About 12 years ago I “scored” a 256MB flash drive for under $30...thought I would never need that much memory. LOL! Frying pan

“HBS” and “Black Moses” are my favorite albums by the man. Loved the way he took Burt Bacharach songs and “soulified” them.

The Marshall Tucker Band - self-titled first album

Love the guitar solo by Toy Caldwell on “Can’t You See”.

74F / 90% RH / 7 mph - dark clouds over the mountains were threatening but I still managed to wash and wax my car...and then weedwack part of our yard before dinner

The Who - Live at Leeds (40th Anniversary Edition)

I’m so used to the 6-song original release that this w-a-y longer version sounds totally foreign. One of the groups I wished I saw with their original lineup.

73F / 90% RH / 12 mph - another hot and humid day

My favorite 'southern rock' band ....I know I'm in the minority, but I think the better Marshall Tucker eclipses the best Skynyrd or Allman Brothers.

Traffic - Mr. Fantasy

Dear Mister Fantasy play us a tune
Something to make us all happy
Do anything take us out of this gloom
Sing a song, play guitar
Make it snappy
You are the one who can make us all laugh
But doing that you break out in tears
Please don't be sad if it was a straight mind you had
We wouldn't have known you all these years

Eric Burdon & The Animals - The Twain Shall Meet

Music still good...but the lyrics made more sense when accompanied by mushrooms

There’s a staircase in my living room
And it leads to (k)nowhere land
There are flowers growing from my wall
They need a helping hand

The Outlaws are certainly incredible. Green Grass and High Tides is southern sonic art at its finest. Ghost Riders in the Sky is amazing as well. They’re still out there if you look and they’re still dedicated to the love of music.

Listening to Howlin Wolf at the moment. Three albums on shuffle

Broken hope. Forgot how good they are. Not for everyone, death metal. Jeremy Wagner, a founding member and their primary song writer is one of my regular wine customers. He is also an author who has been on the NYT best seller list. Pretty cool.

Wow. Nice Spey!
Very primal and absorbing. Reminds me of Selpultura.

Pre-Steve Perry when they had more of a jazz, progressive rock sound.

Late ‘60s - early ‘70s mixed disc of mainly Bay Area artists with snippets of Tom Donahue and radio commercials during that time period to mimic listening to KSAN-FM.

A mixed disc I made for our shop 10+ years ago and I have no idea what's on it. I titled it "Music For the Masses" so kinda guessing it was popular songs back then.

Edit: totally wrong on what I thought. Four songs in - Pearl Jam, Def Leppard, GNR and Aerosmith. I don’t have the files anymore...think I’m gonna keep this for myself.

Bob Dylan - Infidels

Early 80's Bob. Album features Mark Knopfler. A weird, religious period for Bob. Album is full of Christian imagery that is a bit odd. It is however, a GREAT album with songs like "Jokerman", "Sweetheart Like You, "I and I" and "License To Kill"

A comp disc of studio stuff from 1970 to 1981. Love the early years, I kinda regret putting the songs from their Capitol years...too pop-ish.

Read the outlaws post. Made me pull out the Allman Brothers, Eat a Peach. Cascaded from there. The Band, The Last Waltz. Then Bill Monroe, Bean Blossom. Finished with Bob Wills, The Living Legend.
