Her style is a little too hip-hop for me, but dat bitch can SING !
"Cuz I Love You" blew me away !
(Edit: She rocked this song on the Grammys last night.)

Would LOVE to hear her do some classic R&B, Blues, or Rock.

one of my favorite songs evah...

"Fisherman's Blues"

I wish I was a fisherman
Tumblin' on the seas
Far away from dry land
And its bitter memories
Casting out my sweet line
With abandonment and love
No ceiling bearin' down on me
Save the starry sky above
With light in my head
You in my arms
Woo!

I wish I was the brakeman
On a hurtlin' fevered train
Crashing a-headlong into the heartland
Like a cannon in the rain
With the beating of the sleepers
And the burnin' of the coal
Counting the towns flashing by
In a night that's full of soul
With light in my head
You in my arms
Woo!

Tomorrow I will be loosened
From bonds that hold me fast
That the chains all hung around me
Will fall away at last
And on that fine and fateful day
I will take thee in my hands
I will ride on the train
I will be the fisherman
With light in my head
You in my arms

Light in my head
You in my arms

I obviously live in a bubble. “Discovered” her tonight. Damn fine artist! Once I finish my Van Morrison run through, gonna have to circle back to her.

Fantastic album.

If you like that you might like Unforscene. Their 2003 album New World Disorder contained the poem by Lawrence Ferlinghetti, "The World is a Beautiful Place". Spoken word with music. I like the part with the "smiling Mortician"...flatline? Keeps on going.

Hey Gang

Been awhile since I've posted . . .

I'm still deep into RUSH since Neil Peart's passing.

Listening to "Circumstances", "Time Stand Still", and just about everything else they recorded over the past 45+ years.

Hahahahahaha!

Man, that brings up a ton of memories. My parents watched it religiously.

During my retail records store days, I was always amazed / amused when people would buy his albums. Wonder if his count was a part of the recordings?

The Foos are a easier suggestion...try Danko Jones. I like them a lot. Great rock.

Black Crowes are harder. I want to say Justin Johnson for Blues but it's more ZZTOP meets Junior Brown...Maybe toss in Goodbye June and Bright Light Social Hour...BC are so damned good. I call them the American Stones.
Cant forget about the Magpie Salute either!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I agree about the Crowes, my favorite band to come out in the last 20 years. Even love the Chris Robinson solo stuff and now he's back with his brother making more great music. Kate Hudson was their Yoko Ono.....

Pretty sure it was weed just made him lazy. So lazy that he didn't even have time for Kate!

I'm bummed about not being able to see Magpie Salute on the 2nd tour of their ripping album. Instead the Crowes are playing their 1st album in its entirety. Dang, I wish those brothers would bury the axe and stop treating the rest of like hired help.

I remember a story about the backup singers for Remedy complaining and almost quitting because of all the smoking. They had to pay them more to stay.
