By the way, after recently finding out about DASH Radio, I found out about Radio Paradise. Both are free and commercial-free with playlists hand-chosen by human experts, but unlike DASH that has 85+ channels, RP has just a handful of mixes (streams) that differ in mood. The mix on them all is outstanding though, huge playlists and you'll find artists you never heard of, by the dozens! Great stuff.

Also I dunno about other platforms, but their Roku app shows gorgeous photos continually, changing about every 7 seconds, whenever you're playing it, and usually the photos are chosen based on keywords in the song title or artist name. The photos alone are awesome, even with the volume turned down!

Both are excellent. No cost and no ads! How they make any money is beyond me, but who cares!

Ah yes, "Golden/Middle Era" Genesis, the best Genesis ever!

In chrono order:

1. 1967-1974 - Early Genesis w. Peter Gabriel - too weird
2. 1975-1983 - Golden/Middle Era - friggin' amazing, some of the best music ever made
3. 1984 onward - Post Pop-Sellout Era - short FM-friendly crappy pop tracks
.

Totally agree.

There are very few songs I listen to from 1984 onward. It's pap from a band who's members KNOW better but are in a cashgrab down Idontgiveafuck Mountain all the way to the bottom.

Here's Phil's best attempt to sound like Peter Gabriel.

https://youtu.be/0j6d7VeYvdQ

The early Genesis is what made me a fan..Once Peter had left the band just sputtered with lineup changes and a real power struggle for the heart of the band. They talk about doing a reunion but without Peter and Hackett I don't want to see nor hear it.

Really getting tired of double posts and dropping the site. I've ipconfig'd my network to death. Anyone else having this issue with the site? I might have to stop using Chrome.

Why Porcupine Tree didn't get huge over here in the U.S. like they were in Europe I'll never know.

They were with me...check this thread alone. I told everyone I knew about them. Wilson on his own isn't as good as PT. Seeing them live a couple of times what a great night out. They still have enough of a prolific output to dig through and Gavin is with Pineapple Thief which is a great band as well.

as you likely know, Treat Her Right became Morphine.
I went to Jr and Sr High School with the frontman (and his sister) Marc Sandman.
He died during a performance (maybe New Years Eve in Germany?).
Such great low-fi slinky sounds these bands produced.
Miss them much...he was a nice kid too. Had no idea he was such a musical talent!

Thanks for the nod Izonfire...always a pleasure when someone else get the feels of new music. Have to return the favor as well. Deepspacepilots still keeps me interested. Be sure to check out the Psychedelic Suns...they just dropped a new album that I've listened to only one time. Also, if you're online elsewhere be sure to tell them about new music that twirls the beeny.

Todd has been a favorite of mine since the ‘70s.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=4q6or7ovVo4#menu

There’s a comment that references a Hawaii concert at Andrew’s Amphitheater in the late ‘70s and Todd’s performance that night. Kinda sad though.

I vaguely remember the ballerina on the piano and Todd’s odd shaped guitar. Was it a toilet seat? Forget.

Was cruising around Austin yesterday listening to a bit of Stevie Ray. Believe it or not, quite a bit of restaurants were open for indoor dining already and almost all the good distilleries and breweries were open.
