A word of caution. As I thought original production was long gone, I’ve been hoarding the few I had left, and haven’t had one in a while. When I saw the deal, I immediately lit up a Toro, to make sure I still enjoyed them before ordering and posting this thread. This morning I smoked one of my last two Robs, and really paid attention to the flavors. Following is a review, which in hind sight, I should have posted yesterday, as these may not be in everyone’s wheelhouse.
The cigar has a dark walnut, rare Cameroon wrapper grown in Africa, which lends a slight sweetness throughout the smoke. Filler and binder are Nicaraguan, so expect a hit of black pepper and hint of cayenne on the back of your throat, that slowly diminishes throughout the smoke. The main flavors are varying degrees of cedar, roasted almonds and just the hint of cashew. What I find enjoyable about these, and what you may or may not like, is a distinct, underlying note of dried fruits (apricot, raisin, etc.).
So, open the box when you get them, and give one a try, as per CI’s return policy, you only have 15 days from receiving your order to request a refund if they are not to your liking. I don’t want to hear folks crying to me a month or two from now that I steered them wrong on these.
