Tatuaje Avion 12s Ecuadorian Habano wrapper BP Short Perfecto 5 5/8”x48/52 w/thanks to CHENO
Never had this one. Dated 2022. This was a regular production cigar based on 2012 IPCPR if I’m not mistaken.
Gorgeous cigar, I believe this vitola is called a figurado. Shaped like a Perfecto w/a niple on the foot and a medium box-press, nice and firm, invisible seems, light vein structure. Light barnyard on nose, not much on cold draw which is very firm I’m assuming from nipple foot. Big grilled meat smoke on kickoff. Slight bit of Anise and Basil. Toasty on retro, creamy smoke texture. Unidentifiable floral sweet note creeping in. Second third draw improves a tad, shows savory notes, nutty and toasty background, flashes of Anise on occasional draws. Backend of second third required a touch up to otherwise self-correcting burn line. Going into final third more savory and trace of salinity, retro surprisingly bland. Smoke production has been on low end. Sweetness kicks up one notch, draw tighter, smoke production down a notch, second touch up. Cherry died between draws in back half of final third so I let it go. Smoke time about an hour fifteen. This cigar had detractors but I’d be willing to bury a fiver for a couple years (age of this one). Next time I’ll address the draw issues right away. I enjoyed the subtle flavors w/exception of Anise, but it was balanced and not overbearing. I never noticed a presence of black pepper, maple or cinnamon that I’ve seen in other reviews and for me the flavor was solid medium and the strength was medium -.
