WHB lost his hands in a freakish zero turn mower incident, and hence has become mute to the boards.

dstieger: AF Hemi SS Maduro - y a w n....I could easily name a number of better maddies I've gotten for 1/3 of what these go for....the epitome of an overpriced, albeit well constructed, snoozer

I've sampled over 50 different cigars in the last 3 years with only 1 standout: AF hemingway. The list includes middle of the road Padrons (1964), top of the line Ashton's, Mac's, Monte's, you name it. There is a natural prejudice against mild cigars (starting with the cigar publications) but this topic is probably best saved for another thread.

Lazy is my middle name......

Actually, not so much lazy as perhaps older and more set in my ways. I don't try much new stuff any more and when I do, I'm generally underwhelmed.

Russie, I hear ya and I acknowledge that I'm in a very small minority on nearly all of the AF's. Even R 44's and Anejo's. The two exceptions are Opus and 858SG, which I always have on hand. Coincidentally, I was restocking my ready-service locker yesterday and saw the bottom of my last 858SG box....scary sight that I'll be fixing today.

To further acknowledge my 'outlier tastes, I don't like Ashton (except the rare VSG), NC Macs (except the nearly extinct 1968), NC Montes (except for the also extinct Serie C), nor ANY Padrons (save for one particularly enjoyable Family 46 maddie several years ago. Thanks, Watch!)

Off the top of my head, the only 'newer to me' cigars that I've been buying boxes of the last couple years are:
Punch Punch
VR Famosa
PL Montecarlo
La Palina Mr Sam
PL Enantos
CH Imperiosa (Duke and/or CG)
Illusione Fume D'Amour

And on the budget side, I've a continuing favorable impression of Room 101 El Mas Chingon...I keep expecting these to let me down, but they never do

Welcome to the asylum, Russie. You may as well jump all in and start the thread about mild cigars.

I used to buy San Lotanos on a fairly regular basis. Since they went MAP I discontinued smoking them.

Wow...hard to believe that it has been 2 1/2 years since I have added to this thread. Then again, I suppose that I haven't tried a lot of new stuff the past few years. I would be fine smoking nothing but Cubans, Tats, and RomaCraft exclusively. But lot of traveling over the last month has led me to a lot of new cigars....most of which have been rather unremarkable. A few have really stood out, though. For example, I'm smoking a Serino Wayfarer Corona Gorda right now that is an awesome breakfast cigar with coffee. Not real complex, but nutty and full of flavor without being too strong for the morning.
Yesterday, I had CH Las Calaveras LE's from 2014, 2016?, and 2018. 14 (white band) and 18 (black) very similar; both outstanding. The 16 (green), not so much...but when I realized the green was SA wrapped, I wasn't surprised.
Also...
Fratello Noventa....one dimensional, but a good dimension... great flavor, if a tad boring.
TAA offerings from CAO, and LFD somewhat disappointing.
Dumbarton Mi Querida - good but not as good as I wanted it to be.
Couple from Caldwell that I had high hopes for but was unimpressed...Long Live the King and King is Dead... neither is nearly as good for me as Eastern Standard.
Cornelius and Anthony Cornelius - V good, but I wasn't too focused...need to try another.
L'atellier Travailleurs - not bad but forgettable...I'll stick with Cracker Crumbs which are one of my favorite NC small smokes

Three more new forgettables.....and a couple good ones

AJ Last Call - after all of about 36 hours, I can't remember a single thing about this cigar...except that it was sort of a short corona size

El Borracho - great burn, very consistent flavor that didn't change once - sort of a very dry dark chocolate - not bad, especially for a SA, but I've had this exact profile before, but am having trouble placing it.....btw, how did I get all these San Andres wrapped cigars???...I gotta do more research BEFORE buying

Undercrown Sun Grown - OR UC's aren't bad, but not my thing -- I was really looking forward to this new wrapper -- I love AF 858 SG, I think RP's SG are one of the better things he's got going, and the other AF SG's are better than other AF wrappers. But the UC SG just didn't have that thick citrus syrup that I love in 858 and RP....in fact, there was nothing about the flavor whatsoever to indicate SG to my taste....great construction -- meh flavor

Cloud Hopper - not entirely sure what to make of this, so I'll be trying more; sort of a petit lance with a good kick in the nads bit of pepper on the front and again towards the nub -- pepper not overwhelming, and not a lot of flavor dimensions, but satisfying

Yellow Cake - sort of a fun little pc that does indeed, remind of yellow cake -- probably subliminally planted by the name, but however it got there, I can taste it....nice light slightly sweet, but plenty of smoke which isn't always the case for cigars nearing this profile

Have you tried a Laranja, by Espinosa....

Viaje Oro Reserva Aficionado...

L'Atlelier Extension De La Racine 2015...

CH La Careme...

JDN Cuatro Cinco

All new, to me, in the past couple of years, that I thought were worth getting a box...

Viaje Oro Reserva Aficionado...dunno...so many Viaje's...so much confusion...I prolly have a dozen different Viajes in the humis at the moment and couldn't tell you what more than maybe three of them are

L'Atlelier Extension De La Racine 2015...thought I tried one La Racine a number of years ago....but thinking back now, I was at Racine and Laramie in San Diego, so maybe I just remembered the shpo and not the cigar....CRS can be a blessing, but most of the time it sorta sux

CH La Careme...not yet, but on my short list ....in fact, I see that my favorite source for internet cigars is offering me 25% of CH today...hmmm

JDN Cuatro Cinco - also, not yet....heard the good things, but very skeptical....never had a JDN that made me think 'premium'...or even "I got to have another of these"

All new, to me, in the past couple of years, that I thought were worth getting a box...

Yeah that Hit and Run is not bad at all. To me, it's not as good as Matt's older stuff when he was with Davidoff but that would be like comparing apples to doughnuts I think.

Davidoff 702 Corona - wish I'd bought five $3 cigars instead....not the worst cigar I've ever had....by a long shot....but maybe the worst $15 cigar I've ever had -- uneven burn, flat, dry, one dimensional flavor -- sad

Patina Robusto - This one was sorta like the Hit and Run above -- hits you with some neat fruity flavors that evolve with a good level of spiciness -- full flavor, med 'power'.....evolving taste throughout

Exactly how I felt about the two Davidoffs I had several years ago, they were gifted to me.
Looked great, and mine had good construction, but flavor was.........meh......maybe too subtle for me?
When I checked the price? Yikes.........pass!
Have never even considered another since then.

Yeah, Davidoffs (and several other similar brands) are for "band smokers" who want to be seen. High price, no flavor, but "showy" so everyone knows you can afford to pay Davidoff prices.

Wasteful, vain, shallow and stupid? You betcha!

If one feels they must play this game, it's best to get a Davidoff band and slap it on a cigar that costs a small fraction of the price and has, you know, ACTUAL FLAVOR, and get the best of both worlds: you can impress sad, shallow people while getting good flavor and not hideously overspending.

Better yet, just don't play the stupid game at all. Herfing

This. And I find the box-press with the slightly tweaked blend even better. Really the only Davidoff I buy anymore, but still have a few others waiting to be lit.

Tried the WC Late Hour. Tasted a lot like the Camacho Nicaraguan Barrel Aged to me, at a higher price.

Yes, to be fair, I heard the Davidoff Nicaragua is good, but that's the ONLY one of theirs that's any good, and I'm told by multiple people that it tastes about the same as several other quality Nicaraguan cigars that cost a small fraction of the price (just like the Late Hour example the monkey just mentioned).

So yeah. Still never seeing a reason to buy a Davidoff... but to each his own.

The Arturo Fuente Añejo, had my first at the beginning of the summer, discovered that I liked it better than the Hemmingway Maduro. I have had 10 more since, and can’t find a single thing wrong with this cigar. I truly enjoy firing one up with a glass of Port.
