I was thinking that I missed the last time he made a pit stop home and something may or may not be taking up room on top of my wine fridge with his name on it.

Sazrac rye last night. Neat with just enough water to open it up. First time I have had any. Wow! Now I understand what everyone is raving about.

Nope, a bottle my son picked up in San Angelo a year ago last month. He was back in the same shop three weeks ago and they had none and did not expect to get any this year.

So far none to be found in the FL panhandle, Lower AL and Sip gulf coast. Called a few shops in the Sip (Ocean Springs to Gulfport) yesterday and found a couple that received a few bottles but are long gone.

Will have to nurse this bottle for a while and maybe better luck next year.

And good luck on your search.

Ahh. Gotcha. My guy in Casper said he had an order for some to arrive this month. I won't be thru there for 2 weeks when we head back to TX. Maybe I will call him tomorrow

One hope is that some of the distributers hold back and don't get the product to the shops shortly after release. One of my son's regular shops in the FL panhandle received ETL six weeks ago. And if I'm correct that was an April release. He did get me a bottle but I will not see it until Christmas.

If you're that close to Ocean Springs try to get on the list at Maisano's Fine Wine and Spirits for their barrel select Four Roses. The bottle I have now is 119.6 ABV.............awesome is an understatement. The proprietor picks some absolutely inceredible barrels........bout $55 a bottle but some of the best bourbon I have ever been able to get my hands on.I also have a bottle of their barrel select 1792.......wasn't a fan of the regular stuff and I haven't opened it,I just trust his palette.

Maisano's is on my to do list in the near future. I spoke with them over the weekend via phone and the gal I talked to said that her boss/owner purchases about 20 barrels a year. She did mention the 1792. Being a bourbon noob, the 20 select barrels peaked my interest.

Thanks for the heads up.

Anytime

I've actually never set foot in the place but I have a friend that lives nearby.I blame him for my Maisano's barrel select addiction.

Yesterday, E. H Taylor barrel proof, batch #4. A little to bold for my palate. Do like the Taylor single barrel and small batch, in that order.

Quickie question - should I pick up 2 bottles of Wellers Special Reserve or 1 bottle of OW Antique?

Can't do all 3 so gotta make a decision.

Brought home soju ftom Hwayo Distillery.

Supposedly the only Korean company that produces an oaked product.

We tried it chilled and it was good enough to say I'd buy another bottle even though it was $$. Really just to have in the cabinet for an occasional sip or two.

About 85 in Duty Free.

First time diving into scotch. I'm usually a bourbon guy. I'm sold! Very nice! Paired tonight with a LG SB-V. Life is good.

you picked a hell of good one for your first! And I am also a bourbon guy.

Most likely you would prefer "sherried" scotches to smokey/peaty...may I suggest Balvenies Doublewood?

A very excellent selection. Macallan 12 or Balvenie doublewood are superb for their price point.

I almost bought the Macallan, but one of the guys at the cigar shop spend a few years in Scotland. And while he was there just decided to try a different one every time he went to a restaurant. Kind of making him a connoisseur of sorts. He suggested the Aberlour, but like my cigar internship, I'm gonna give a few of these suggestions a try, thanks.
