My bride and I went to the liquor store last night and came away with a bottle of that on recommendation
( never tried, so looking forward to it ) and somehow a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel ended up in the bag as well.
This liquor store had 7-8 different barrel proof bottles from Four Roses that were done exclusively for them with proofing and a description of " notes " characteristic to that particular barrel. But they also go for $56 a pop. Picked up the Single barrel for $36...

Wild Turkey puts out exceptional bourbons at a price point well below the market. God Bless Jimmy Russell.

Had a couple interesting ones over the weekend. My buddy and I found a couple older bottles of scotch hidden in a cupboard. They said that they were opened 12 years ago for tasting and looked a bit older than that.

Don't know anything about either if someone wants to fill me in.

JW Dants Blended Scotch Whisky - This was the better of the two. Pretty strong. Nothing special about it, but enjoyed it.

Rare Justerini & Brooks - This one was very light tasting, not bad by all means, but not a whole lot to it.

Me too last night Dan...we really enjoy the Four Roses S Batch and S Barrel

On a separate note I just received e-mail notice that we have an opportunity to attend a bourbon tasting and seminar hosted by Big Red liquors for their VIP's where we'll meet Bernie Lubbers ( Brand Ambassador for Heaven Hill ) and will sample many of their offerings and have an ice cubes chance in hell of winning an opportunity to purchase a bottle of E.Craig 18 yr.bourbon while learning a bit about distilling the nectar. I hope my bride can get the night off!!!!

Updated: Looks like we're going!!!
What a great way to celebrate my turning 57 the following dayBeer

If you get a chance on the EC 18, I recommend you jump on it if the price is not out of bounds.

Also, sample the Larceny if given a chance. IMHO it is a really good bottle for the mid 20's.

Would love to but I have a feeling it will be cost prohibitive for us....Aren't we talking somewhere in or around $400?
Thanks for the recommendation on the Larceny Dan, we'll give it a try Fo Sho!!!

Well we didn't get drawn but that's okay we still had a great time!! One of the two people who did get drawn, declined the purchase of the EJ 18 yr. and one of the attendees behind them snagged it for $129 IIRC. We tried a few whiskies we hadn't had from the HH distillery and came home with several since they did a " one day special " for those attending. Picked up a few E.Craig @ $22 per.
Brought home a bottle of Bernheim Rye / Evan Williams Reserve / (3) Elijah Craig and couldn't pass up a bottle of Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style bourbon ( BIL brought a bottle to Nic. and it was pretty darn good )
