Liking the 1920 more and more. Actually last nights pour but posted this A.M.

Nice score on the Weller 12 and Antique. I have decided that the Antique is more than a suitable sub for the 12 when it can not be found (which is most of the time).

Just presented the oldest cub with an early portion of this years Christmas gift. A bottle of Old Forest 2017 Birthday bourbon, he be real happy.

I was sure of it...

Agree wholeheartedly on the 1920, went through our 1st bottle rather quickly ( put back two more ) and wish I could afford to put away a case but happy as chit to have a cpl.
I'll bet the eldest cub IS geeked about that early Christmas gift....well done Dan!!!

Balvenie 14 Peated. A UK or Duty Free only offering, bottled at 96.6 proof. Really, really excellent.

The friend that brought this back for me also surprised me with a bottle of Balvenie 16 Triple Wood. Haven’t cracked it open yet.

This was the last score from there a couple of months ago. They did not get as many Four Roses barrels this year as in the past. Guess the demand is surpassing the supply.

Saw Paul over the weekend at bourbonfest! I didnt buy anything there shockingly... emptyhanded on the Vanwinkle/Antique. Tried Peerless 2yr Rye, it was delicious but the pricetag was ballsack. I've been kind of distracted lately and not following along on here. How everyone doing, whats good?

I did pick up one of the 1.75l of OWA Big Red Single barrel that it looks like paul got as well. THIS **** IS DELICIOUS! Like seriously. Was only able to pick one bottle, chose this at $50 over Weller12 @ $60 and Four Roses Ltd @ $160. I made the right decision...

Just received my bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 20 year old, I won the right to purchase ($249.99) through a state lottery. Although I've received several, very generous, offers to buy it from me ($1800.00 is the highest), I think I'll save it for a special occasion.

........I doubt it will make it through the New Year (special enough for me).

Heads up......to any of you PA residents. They sell all of their "Limited Release" offerings, through this site........ http://www.finewineandgoodspirits.com. I just found out about it, when I was trying to locate a bottle of E.H. Taylor Four Grain (which will be sold through this lottery at a future date). Once on the site......go to the "Events" tab, then to the "Limited Release Lottery" tab.

You must be a PA resident and you have to have a credit card on file. Also, sign up for their email list (so you are alerted to the next lottery, I only found out about it by mistake). I know I beat the odds (78,000 entries and 1600 bottles available), especially for being my first lottery but it's worth a shot.

Good Hunting!

Congrats! I got one a couple years ago. Haven't decided when to open yet. WEdding coming up soon may be the occasion but i don't want to smash the bottle in a day (or in a number of minutes) so I'm thinking bachelor party may not be the right occasion.

Edit: oh ya the purpose of this thread...

Basil Hayden's Dark Rye 2017 Release

gifted to me, KY straight rye whiskey blended with Canadian rye whisky and Port
interesting, different. it's like both the sweetness of the port and the spice of the rye have both been somewhat tamed yet still appear.

kind of a nice sipper, should go well with some cubans and maduros.

I scored a bottle of the ETL anniversary black label tonight. It’s about half gone now. Good but I can’t tell much difference from regular.

interesting for sure. but may not appeal to every bourbon or rye drinker.
That said, I liked it as a change of pace.

We have a couple different bourbons / whiskies unopened that have been " finished " in either rum / sherry / port or even one from freshly dumped Imperial Stout beer barrels. The Big Red VIP bourbon 2.0 version @ 114 P we did taste before purchasing...was quite tasty.

https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=chrf-yff34&p=Big+Red+liquors+VIP+bourbon

Edit:

Had yet another opportunity to snag another bottle of Blantons through Big Red VIP program via their Big Red Liquors APP.
Also snagged a bottle of Four Roses Barrel Proof OBSV 10yr 10 month ageing weighing in @ 125 proof.
