Thanks Frank and Ron.

Services were today although my brother passed on March 7. He had broken his hip a couple weeks earlier. Had hip replacement surgery then went to a rehab place but never made it out. He also had COPD and had a pacemaker for a few years so quality of life wasn't so hot. Doctors marveled at how long he lasted. One thing for sure, he knew how to have a good time! Beer

During the past couple of months, I had been eye balling the Talisker Distillars Edition, Storm as well as the 10 yr offering. Recently, I pulled the trigger on the 10 yr and glad I did. It is a really a nice pour for a 10 yr offering.

Last night:

Four Roses private select single barrel, OESV, aged 10 yr, 57.5 alc

I think you will like the 12. It is a definite step up from the 10. Though the 10 is quite nice as well. What I really enjoyed is that there are some unique flavors. I am guessing due to being from the isle of sky.

I'm so, so sorry to hear this. Prayers and thoughts for you. I lost my younger brother a couple years ago so I know what you are going through. He knew how to party too.

On Tramadol for the fractured leg, so no booze. Before that, I was enjoying a Pendleton 1910 12 year old Canadian Rye (100% rye). I will have to get some more once I'm off the pain meds.

tramadol gave me a hard time in recent months after a bad fall resulted in two tears in the rotator cuff.

first day I had a weird reaction after two doses, was high high/stoned that it was uncomfortable (I know, I know). So put it aside.

Tried it again a couple of weeks ago and after the second dose threw up within 30 minutes.

Not normal for me to have difficulty with drugs/medicines.

picked up a bottle of Kilbeggan Single Grain Irish Whiskey 86 proof today. Never seen it before.
I like it. Honey nuanced, long finish. Good whiskey. 25 clams, worth it.

I'm sorry to hear about that, Frank. I hope you found something else to ease the pain.

Doc had me on 50 mg. every 8 hours, so that is a very low dose. It wasn't enough, so he upped it to 50 mg. every 6 hours. Doing much better. Maximum considered safe dose is 800 mg. a day and I'm only at 200 mg. I still feel the pain, but it's just enough to take the edge off and keep me from screaming like a little girl, lol.

I agree with that cashew taste. I could smell it before the glass hit my lips. It was ok but not a bottle buy for me.

I bought a 375ml. Disliked a first, but it grew on me a little. Not enough to have picked up any more, though.

The 15 is a step up as you would expect it would be. Simply put it is the best Irish I have ever enjoyed. Well worth the extra $20.

Sazerac

Local had a bottle on the shelf and got lucky I stopped in there in time because they were supposed to call me when they got more but didn't. Working a little up the road now and found a honey hole today that had 7 bottles and $5 cheaper.

Dayum, $24 is $10 cheaper then the place I found today that was $5 cheaper then my local. I did notice when I was in Scottsdale a few years back that Basil was $35ish and it is $45 here.

I'll keep that in mind Kipp, looking to stock up off my new honey hole for a bit and should be good til the fall.
