Latakia is like eating grapefruit. You enjoy it alot or learn to like it.

The smell of wet campfire is too uch for some to overcome.

I really like SPP Plum Pudding at night on occasion.

the wet campfire didn't bother me so much... it's the perfumy aftertaste that gets me... it's like smoking an acid in a sense...

i'm with you bro. de uses latakia and other orientals to flavor their cigars. i still take a leak on my campfires when i put them out, not when i sit down to enjoy them.

neither alone are anything special, but mixed 3 va to 1 burley, add a dash of perique and you got something. i use them to spice/change other blends. a little of the burley with rolando's or add some of the va to suzabitches and you got a new smoke. i find all but a few blends benefit from added perique.

607-dunhill elizabethan. first bowl and it is nice. will have to have more before i decide on cellaring, although i bought 3 tins based on others reviews

Haven't tried the pudding yet but have some on the way

Really enjoy the river, lights and burns well with little fuss, smooth and creamy with just a little sweetness, gives me a little nic buzz

I have a hard time describing pipe tobacco but this one is just doing it for me

interesting on the perique... do you just have a pure perique you're adding or are you adding another blend that has a lot of perique?

I'm not sure why, but I really enjoyed that burley you sent... it was simplistic, but I liked it...

no number to add... had to do some driving tonight so I went out and grabbed a cigar...

i wonder if the saying "close but no cigar" was originally about pipe smoking... I'm really enjoying it, but it just isn't quite as good as a cigar to me... a whole lot cheaper though, and I definitely enjoy that...

616 ps bullseye in a stanwell

How do most of you smoke these, I have been rubbing them out but still seem to end up with a wet pile of tobacco at the bottom of the bowl?

Should I dry it out more.....pack more loosely etc

dry more. that cavendish in the center holds a lot of moisture. dry i sometimes just roll them up and stuff them in the bowl, but rubbed seems to enhance the flavor.

the marble kake is mellow...

my opinion doesn't mean much, as I'm really new to this, but it was more mellow to me than flavorful... still enjoyable, just not one I'd go to every day...

wheel,

A system pipe has a kinda like reservoir so you dont get any moister while smoking. Alot of bents are that way. It happens natural from drilling the tenon and the smoke hole. Peterson calls it a system pipe.

Heat shrink tube on a mouthpiece...

anyone do this to prevent bite marks ?

The reason I ask is I will eventually get a nice pipe and want to keep it nice.

Wheel, they make bite guards that slip onto the bit. They work well. Not sure I would use shrink wrap.
