Hey guys, I am looking for suggestions for good Lanceros. I like my Lanceros like I like my women - tall, skinny, dark skinned, and spicy.

So far I love Oliva V Lanceros and Fuente Opus X Lanceros, I am looking for other suggestions (Opus X are great but non-affordable). On my list so far:

El Triunfador Limited
Illusione Natural and Maduro HLs
Tatuaje Blacks

I do wish this auction site had more Lanceros and Coronas, I get frustrated they seem to focus so heavily on 50+ RGs when I prefer RGs in thr 38-44 range. Curious thing, the auctions (per the cbid historical site) shows the smaller RGs sell closer to MSRP on average. If its more profitable I wonder why they don't offer more of them, it seems the auctions for those RGs are really competitive relative to the big puffers.

I can honestly say I have never smoked a lancero....in any blend. I have an L40, Tat Tattoo and El Triunfador OR but only one of each...can't bring myself to smoke them.

Thanks for all of the recommendations guys! Building my list of cigars to try.

Don't worry TMC, I generally do not overbid, although you are part of my proof here - we need more Lancero auctions!

Great inexpensive Lancero is the 5 Vegas AAA. Let it sit a bit before somking it. The San Lotano Lanceros (Habano and Connecticut) are very good as well.

Had 1/3rd of a Tat Black Culebra the other night that was fantastic. One more enthusiastic vote for Room 101 Daruma and Cain F. And, Oliva V!

You are wise for a noob. fog
I agree with you 100% on the smaller RG's. Unfortunately, my experience is primarily with cigars that you can't get here. Good hunting!!

PM me you addy and I'll shoot you some of my favs. Thanks - Buckwheat Herfing

The 5 Vegas AAA was a limited release I believe. If it was, that's a shame because they were right tasty and I didn't buy enough of them.Sad

Thanks to everyone who helped me out on this thread,I appreciate all the suggestions. I have acquired a nice collection to smoke through:

El Triunfador Limited - not smoked yet
Tatuaje Petite Blacks - wow these are good!
San Lotano Habano - these are great!
Joya de Nicaragua Antano 1970 - pretty good
J Fuego Origen Lancero - aging
My Father No. 4 - need aging
El Triunfador (new) - so-so, hopes on aging
Illusione Natural - not smoked yet

The bidding on the Illusione Maduro Lancero was ridiculous. I hope I don't have to wait until winter although by then maybe Illusione will catch up to their backlog and it won't be so crazy.

I am flying to Europe in three weeks, going to take a sampler of my favorites to compare with a friend overseas who swears by other brands. We will see!

Not a lancero, but the CyB lonsdale club is a great cigar.

Can't go wrong with Serie V, Illusions HL, Tat Black, Cain F, pretty much any DPG. If you happen upon them (not sure if they are made anymore), the Nestor Miranda Special Selection lances were rather nice too.

Another vote for the LFD Cameroon Cabinet and El Tri OR. Don't see this above, but the Padron 64 Superior, maddie or nat, are also recommended.

Google "cbid historical tool", gives you a history of auctions going back years. Fascinating to see the seasonal effect on cigar prices for the same lot - winter is def the time to load up so they are aged for summer. Right now everything sells at a premium.

Although I'm not a huge Lancero fan, I thought the San Cristibal Guajiro was outstanding.

yep, for sure.

I thought I would try some tat black petite lanceros, but I am not going to pay the highest price ever paid.

Not to mention paying retail ( or virtually retail.)

Great tool. There will be other auctions, maybe prices will be lower in cooler weather.

I don't mind paying a buck or two extra on singles to try them or five packs I want to try, just to get them in on the shipping.

However, as a matter of principle, I'm not going to bid retail for a stick.

You want to pay retail for it, fine. I will wait till another comes along, or hell freezes over.

Whatever.

Exactly.

I grabbed 10 Tat Bl PLs when they were on Freefall a couple of weeks ago, magnificent cigar. Wish I had bought more but the 10 were a leap of faith as it was. It may well be the best NC Lancero I have tried.
