RASS. about 10 years old. Blissful. I smoked it almost to the bitter end. Earthy, sweet, wood, leather and creamy. Odd blue-ish) smoke. Down to my last one from a cab (I think/don't remember).

I feel like I should sell my intact cab of RASS, only paid 360 like 3 years ago, could make a nice tidy profit. But then, if I ever wanted to buy them again, by the time I got around to it they'd be like $900 a cab or something else ridiculous.RollEyes

RASS generally, IMHO, require 4-5 years of aging.

Can I get some sympathy? My cousin came in to town and we were supposed to smoke a Chit-ton of cigars, but he flaked out on the cigar part. I thought I was going to smoke a good five or so cigars this weekend, but...

It was my first I believe. Very mild. The nub was very enjoyable. Until the final 3rd though I'd say too mild a profile for body & strength

In the entire line, only the Distinguidos do I recommend (which should be what I sent). I like them, but they are not a strong blend for sure. I've tried other sizes in the line, and....they all kind of suck. The Divinos are so small and tapered, that you feel like you're smoking a roach not a cigar. The Exclusivo's I've had were just, meh. I haven't had the other size just below the Exclusivos (traditonals or something like that) but I wouldn't be expecting much from them. It feels like the blend really shines in the larger ring gauge, so Distinguidos it is for me. I do have a box of the Salomons that I recently got, but the one sample I smoked was ROTT and I kinda got the vibe that it was going to smoke pretty similarly to the Distinguidos after some rest.

Haven't added anything in several years and have smoked my stash down to one humi now. Need to add some new stuff.

Are there any great vs. good vs. bad years over the last five or six years?

Anything else to consider to avoid crap and increase my chance of better cigars?

I don’t have any answers but man, when you start to take a look at the prices, you might wish you hadn’t thinned out your inventory a few years ago. Gonz

I already started looking at a box of H.Upman PC for like $170 from Ravi. Ten years ago that cigar was $125. But, it turned out my collection appreciated quit well- in the range of 5-10% per year (because of new cigar price inflation and appreciation due to aging of my cigars). Now it is more expensive, but I'm not "sticker shocked." Really need to find out who the best current vendors are at this point.

Feel free to pm me.

A few thoughts: I have read a few articles that said the '16-'17 and '17-'18 Cuban growing seasons were making great cigars. I usually smoke mostly robusto and some smaller sizes and rarely the top lines like Cohiba so my experiences may not be accurate but here are a few I know from experience.

PLPC RGE March '17 cab excellent
PLPC LGR Mar '18 cab very good
HUHC Connie A MEG Sept '17 good last I remember
Bolivar RC MUS Sept '18 excellent
LGC Regional Espana SMA dic '18 very good
HUHC BRE Mar '18 good (2 boxes)
Trini Vigia ARS TUBOS May '19 disappointing so far
Party Short UEB Mar '19 excellent (3 boxes)
Party Short ASR July '19 cab very good
JL#2 UTL June '17 excellent
JL#2 MTS Feb '20 good still but young (darker wrappers than usual)
Trini Colonales BSM June '20 good needs time
Trini Reyes BSM July '20 just OK needs time
PSD#4 OPS Sept '17 excellent (2 boxes)
PSD#4 AMP Nov '20 very good
HU Royal Robusto PSU Sept '17 wowser! (3 boxes)

Cuba's manufacturers are in crisis mode. It won’t improve for a while, sadly. Between political upheaval and Covid, production is slowing dramatically.
