Just been seeing all of these posts about overbiding. Well thought that maybe we should have a thread about some great deals we hace gotten on here. For instance I have been looking for some cigars for my pops for Fathers day. After being over bid on a bunch of stuff, I finally was able too score a box of Xikar HC Conneticuts. He had been saying he wanted to try them, but at 150 dollars I could not see getting them if he didnt know he liked them. However I was able to score a box yesterday for a mear 37.00. Seems to good to be true!!

Obviously some sticks for myself for Fathers day. I still cannot believe how low I got them for. I was recommended this site by a buddy on c.com forum. Think I will be sending him a thank you gift.

I tried for a the same box a day before, and was outbid. That box went for about 70 which is still a deal, but I am glad I missed out. Has anyone smoked these. I have never tried an Xikar cigar, but I have heard good things

I forget which one I had. The first two were good, solid, just above yard gars. The third was a turd. I gave the other two away hoping they'd have positive experiences with them. You know how quickly taste aversion can set in. May have just been the one but it'll take awhile to get over it.

I'm a connecticut fan... the xikar connecticut is a pretty solid cigar... not sure what size you got, but I stick to the robusto's when I can get them at $2 each... they're mild and somewhat one dimensional, but it's a good dimension...

I got the Belicoso 6.0 by 54. I dont do conneticuts at all. The few I have had just did nothing for me. My father on the other hand smokes nothing but conneticuts. He enjoys them in the morning with a cup of coffee. I remember him talking about these a while ago, and figured why not. Now hopefully he gets me my Legado De Pepins Angel Thanks for the post by the sounds of it he should like them.l

Funny story, yesterday I also bought a box of these but in Lonsdale. Got mine for $43. I can't say that I've had a sub 50 rg Connecticut. I'm excited to try it.

Yes everyone, I broke my streak... Also picked up a new ashtray, and a box of Nirvana Robusto.

Days without purchase: 1

The means for this thread is so we could talk about the great deals we have gotten. Not the other way around!!

denis, just tossing you crap -- you did fine. These are probably in the top tier of all cigars you can buy for $37 per box. Toss on the shipping and you might be pressing, though.

I'd be very surprised if anybody has ever paid $150/bx for these. Maybe when they first came out. Many places have been deeply discounting these and closing them out for years, trying to get rid of inventory. Looks like CI sucked them up to put on here.

You're going to find that some (many?) aren't going to follow your lead -- first rule of cbid deals, for many, is that we don't talk about cbid deals. I know that Trish (and even Sven in the wayback) will tell you that only a small percentage of people who bid go anywhere near the forums. However, some of us may still be reluctant to talk too much about what we think are great deals here, lest they start creeping up.....right, stax?!?!?

I've smoked the CT robusto and they were OK, but not something I would buy for $ 37 a box, and I tend to like CT wrapped smokes.

Well I hope they turn out ok because they are a fathers day gift. Perhaps next time I will come to the forum fir some real advise lol. Pops isnt a really picky smoker as long as is mild, and creamy. Just figured I would try to get him something I know he would not buy himself. As for myself my first cigar was a Flor De Las Antillas, and I have never looked back.No worries about the banter my skin is thick. Just being new to the forum I saw alot of threads about over biding, and thought a little positivity would be nice. Angel

Probably was embarrassed about making a big deal of the overpriced craptastic cigars he bought based on ad copy.

There is a reason prices are so deeply discounted. Not that it's impossible for find some diamonds in the rough, just that the probability is significantly smaller than most realize when the first join.

Once one moves past the propaganda and pays a bit more attention to seemingly reputable reviews they tend to be a bit more savvy with there $$$.
