2017, Bellefontaine Cabernet Sauvignon, IGP Vin de Pays d'OC, France. $7/btl. Fantastic for the price! If you see it try it.

93 points to my palate. A noise of blackberries, black raspberries, graphite, cedar, and leather. Good vibrant acidity, silky smooth tannins, dark fruit flavors, with notes of forest floor and earth. Rich, heavy mouth feel. A surprising amount of lingering finish. This is case worthy, better than many $20 to $30 California Cabernet Sauvignon that I have tasted.

Austrians are sneaky like that. Exept for Meinklang rose, it's a loud one. But the cedar was the loudest! I quieted em all down by finishing the bottle. Bought 2 cases of it today, not a whisper from either case.

Ledger David Malbec 2016 from Rogue Valley - tight and crisp when first poured but developed nice round flavors with a little air time. Very nice.

Thanks Jamie (Z) for the gift.

A glass of “The Prisoner” with dinner.

My wife and I aren’t really wine drinkers but the bartender recommended it. Was good.

I got a bunch of those too. Seems like it would be worth it just to place an initial order. Get a case of something you like, and you'll go through it eventually.

I heard that. And again. A bottle doesn't last me for more than a few hours, so I leave it for Sundays

At my favorite tasting room Ledger David.

Today’s sampler:
2017 Sauvignon Blanc
2017 Radiant White (blend of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay & Malvasia Bianca
2016 Orion’s Nebula ( blend of Cab Franc, Malbec, Petite Verdot & Syrah)
2016 Syrah just released.

Then had a glass of Orion’s Nebula. So good....

Interesting blend Z. There is consideration in Bordeaux of reintroducing Syrah as a Bordeaux grape, though I doubt it will ever happen. How was the white blend? It sounds very interesting. About 3 months of living vicariously on this thread. No booze, wine, or beer till I get down to my weight goal.

Copied from a local vineyard that does right bank Bordeaux:

Hello Bordeaux wine lovers.

There's big news from Bordeaux. The AOC regulators have just approved 7 new grape varieties to be allowed in Bordeaux blends. It's an experimental trial allowing up to 10% of these non-traditional varieties to be added to approved blends.

Citing global warming and its impact on increasing alcohol in their wines they're attempting to try and bring the more age able, traditional, lower alcohol styles back.

Or, if you want to experience the more traditional, lower alcohol Bordeaux style wines without getting into such experimental changes you might want to come try the smooth and lingering wines of Cricket Hill.

Wow!!! An interesting grouping of new grapes for Bordeaux. They all make sense. They do well in warm wet conditions and maintain acidity.

You've got a lot of catching up to do.

So here is a few questions to see if you are even remotely close.

1) How many continents have you drank wine from?
A) How many countries from each of those continents.
have you drank wine from?
B) How many specifically named and delineated
regions have you drank wine from?
C) How many sub regions from that delineated region
have you drank wine from?
D) How many varietals or blends of wine have you
drank from that sub region?
E) How many of those varietals or blends have you
drank red, white, and rose versions of?
F) How many of those varietals and blends have you
had that were orange wines, biodynamic wines,
certified organic wines, USDA certified organic
wines, or biodynamic wines?
G) How many orange wines have you had that were
made from Sauvignon Blanc, Assyrtiko, Pinot Gris,
or Pinot Grigio?
H) Have you had an orange Pinot Grigio made in the
Ramato method?
I) Have you had a wine made in the Ramato method
that was made in Amphoras?
J) Have you had wine made in Amphoras that was
cut with water like ancient Roman wines were?
K) Have you had a wine made in the ancient Roman
method using indiginous yeast captured on bread
that went through uncontrolled fermentation?
L) Have you ever had a wine that went through
uncontrolled fermentation that stuck that used
the ancient Grecian method of restarting
fermentation using beet sugar?

Ok, I wanted to get through the end of the alphabet, but that's all I got. And I'm not going to give you one that easy either. Freakin amateur!!!

M) Have you ever had a Burgundy that illegally
used beet sugar to bump up the alchohol
content in an underipe vintage?
N) Have you ever had a red Burgundy that blended
in Moroccan wine illegally?

Spey! No more wining! I said I’d get to it!

Why am I reminded of this heated debate that I had with Justice Sotomayor???
It’s like déjà vu. And like I’m living it all over again as well.

Get some rest Spey. Please...

Light honey hued in color. Aromas of pineapple and lemon lead to pear & white grapefruit on the palate balanced with lovely acid structure. The finish is medium bodied and lively with a touch of minerality.

Nah, still miles to go on the weight Frank. I was able to maintain in the hospital and am still at 215 lb. Surprisingly I was able to get in 36 K steps while at the hospital. So I have lost 50 lb, and I will loose between 35 lb and 45 lb more. Then I can add wine and hard liqueur back in. No beer, but as you know that is no great loss for me.

Makes sense, their vision is very European in nature as are their grape varietals. The Encore is their version of a Vouvray while the Primoris is stylistically a Savenierres.
