2013 Serra Cab Franc.

How was that Super Tuscan? Sometimes it’s more peppery than others.

I'm not a big fan of Sangiovese but it was a nice sipper. IMO it could have used more Cab Franc in the blend and it had almost no pepper notes to speak of. Would have been a great wine with a meal but we usually drink most wines separately for happy hour.

2015 Channin Pinot Noir Sanford and Benedict vineyard, Santa Rita Hills, California.

As great of a Pinot Noir as I have had in a long time. It gives extremely expensive red burgundies a run for the money about 1% of the price. 99 points to my palate.

Walt is the pinot label for Hall Wines as in Kathryn Walt Hall ambassador to Austria during some Clinton years.

They like to describe Walt as pinot for big Cabernet lovers.

I'm not a big wine drinker, but when I cook, it's the cheapest crap I can find... Usually Aldi winking owl for a whopping 2.50. It makes a decent spaghetti sauce.

Beautiful place.

You being a guy who spends some time in Napa, have any interest in some of my stash of '96 Harlan Estate? Sold some on consignment years ago through Wine Commune but still have a few.

Anything outside of the “Bordeaux region” is a “style”.

We have one local here that specializes in Bordeaux style wines. Around 600 total cases of all blends per year.

Thats why I want to sell it. I usually drink something around $20 and and find a $1000 wine a tad disappointing. Ha!

Wifey and I tasted most every winery available in Napa and Sonoma many years ago. Our favorites were always the small guys that thieved from barrels in their cellars. Got to meet many of the winemakers that way instead of just a sales staff. Prolly not many of those left. Most of them did not even charge for a tasting back then.
